Story is at the heart of everything we do in World of Warcraft, and as Lead Narrative Designer you will recruit, lead, and mentor a dedicated team of narrative designers. You will collaborate with peers across multiple disciplines to oversee narrative design from initial story pitches to final implementation. We value diverse voices and varied backgrounds, and we're looking for a leader to champion Blizzard's core values and help us build fun, compelling, and inclusive story experiences for World of Warcraft.
This role is anticipated to be a hybrid work position, with some work on-site and some work-from-home. The potential home studio for this role is Irvine, CA.
What you will do…
- Guide the narrative team to express the story of WoW through excellent dialogue, prose, voiceover, and characterization.
- Manage, mentor, and evaluate team members through content creation and iteration while identifying implementation best practices.
- Work with our recruiting partners to continue growing the narrative design team.
- Plan the narrative team schedule and work with production and team leadership to ensure proper scope, quality, efficiency, and workflow.
- Work with sound producers to plan voiceover budgets.
- Collaborate with casting directors to cast major voice roles.
- Oversee consistency and continuity of game storylines and franchise characters.
- Create story documentation and maintain writing style guides and other supporting materials.
- Review cinematic requests, assign and write scripts, and offer feedback and approval.
- Champion work/life balance for the narrative design team.

- Previous experience working on an MMO in a narrative or writing capacity.

In the U.S., the standard base pay range for this role is $97,200.00 - $179,900.00 Annual. This base pay range is for the U.S. and is not applicable to locations outside of the U.S. Actual amounts will vary depending on experience, performance and location. In addition to a competitive base pay, employees in this role may be eligible for incentive compensation. Incentive compensation is not guaranteed.
