We’re looking for a Lead Metagame Systems Designer to push the boundaries on social connectivity in Palia as the vision leader of a team of teams (an initiative).
Expectations and Responsibilities:
- Drive and align the studio around the high level product vision of Social Metagame Systems by collaborating with Palia Leadership and other Product Leads to ensure a cohesive product vision
- Collaborate with your producer and team level leads to manage the product roadmap of the initiative.
- Work with teams across the company to deliver thoughtful integrations of social features throughout the player experience
- Help direct and plan for the growth of the initiative, managing craft and career growth of your design team
- Navigate tough development tradeoffs to maximize positive impact on the player experience, operating as an individual contributor as necessary to support your teams
What We’re Looking For:
- 6+ years of experience in systems design role (preferably in the social space with a depth of knowledge around player dynamics)
- Experience leading teams in a design capacity
- Effective at coordinating the interactivity between multiple features & systems
- Strength in the following areas:
- Critical thinking & analytical skills
- Verbal & written communication skills
- Collaboration skills within and across teams
- Passion for Social Features in games
Nice to Have:
- Experience in Trust & Safety
- Experience managing other designers
- Experience working with backend engineers
- Mediation Training
- Facilitation Training
Salary Information
The Los Angeles base salary range for this full-time position is $150,000 - $190,000. Base salary will be determined by role, level, and location. The range listed for each job is the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries, for the positions across S6-approved states. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors. Please discuss your specific salary expectations for your preferred location during our interview process.
Compensation details reflect only the base salary, and do not include bonus, equity, or benefits such as 401k matching.

- Choice of Remote (in approved states) or Hybrid office options in Los Angeles, CA, or Orange County, CA (office location pending) unless noted above
- Aligned to core Pacific Coast hours (10:00am - 4:00pm PT)
