Lead Localization Specialist (German)

NCSOFT is looking for a Lead Localization Specialist (German) to lead a writing team providing language services for NCSOFT products. The Lead Localization Specialist reports directly to the Senior Director and works closely with internal and external multi-linguistic Editors and Writers for high quality localization. For this role, the candidate must be familiar with standard Quality Assurance applications and be a supportive team player within ArenaNet and NC Interactive. The perfect candidate translates English into German and edits and proofreads German content. The candidate has a passion for MMORPGs and strong leadership skills for team management.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Edit and translate English to German in-game and out-of-game content with and without voice over to ensure AAA quality goals, adherence to style, terminology, Guild Wars franchise, and brand standards
- Lead GW2 writing team and EU writer team for DE/FR/ES
- Play and understand the game in English and German
- Establish overall writing direction, and ensure consistency of tone and content of the game
- Help establish writing deadlines, and ensure that they are met
- Provide constructive and regular feedback to writers and editors on team
- Effectively communicate any issues within the writing team to wider group
- Create and maintaining multi-linguistic terminology term bases
- Provide and maintain internal and external documentation, glossaries, and style guides.
- Work closely with NCSOFT’s QA teams and fix potential bugs in game
- Work with PD, Brand, and other teams as necessary to support content-related writing needs while also providing feedback to overall marketing and brand guide lines
- Assist with the writing of other NCSOFT games when necessary
WHAT YOU'LL NEED TO BE SUCCESSFUL
- 7+ years experience in Localization incl. 2-3 years of team management
- Native German Speaker with outstanding language and editing skills
- Passion for video games (with an emphasis on MMOs)
- Understanding of user experience
- Strong organizational and multitasking skills and ability to work effectively in fast-paced environment
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Leadership skills with professional demeanor; team player orientation
- Strong interpersonal, problem solving, and analytical abilities
PLUSES
- Experience managing projects
- Proficiency with CAT tools (proficiency with memoQ highly preferred), content management systems, and bug tracking software like JIRA
- Bachelor’s degree in English, German, or a related field
- Familiarity with HTML or XML
