We are looking for a Lead Lighting Artist to join the early development of a new, AAA, Unreal 5 multiplayer action game. This bold project aims to break new ground in multiplayer, blending gameplay mechanics in new ways and deeply embedding storytelling elements into a unique universe. Key Responsibilities:
- Work closely with the Art Director, Cinematic Director and associates to help define the lighting direction across the game
- Work closely with the lighting artists and tech teams to develop and maintain lighting pipelines and tool development
- Develop and create compelling lighting schemes that will compliment and strengthen the visual narrative and tone.
- Create and develop compelling environment lighting for the game and cinematics.
- Create and develop exciting cinematic and atmospheric character lighting passes that bring the cinematics to life.
- Work closely with the Technical Leads to ensure the lighting budgets meet platform requirements
- Work with the Leads and team members to ensure consistency across the in-game lighting and cinematic lighting for the project as a whole
- Bring your own ideas to the team and help to improve workflows and processes
Requirements:
- Proven experience as a Lead Lighting Artist, or similar position, on at least one shipped PC or Console title.
- Show an excellent knowledge of lighting principles and composition.
- Show an excellent understanding of colour theory.
- Show an excellent understanding of cinematography principles and workflows.
- Show an excellent understanding and experience of baked and real-time lighting techniques.
- Show an excellent understanding of PBR workflows and processes.
- Show an excellent understanding in the fundamentals of post processing and tone mapping and colour correction.
- Show a strong understanding and experience with Unreal Engine or a proprietary engine.
- Experienced with Material/shader creation.
- Experienced in using 3D software. (Maya/Max)
- Experienced working with Realtime and offline rendering.
Additional Desirable Skills:
- Show an excellent understanding and experience with Unreal Engine
- Show an excellent understanding and experience with Unreal Engine sequencer and cinematic pipelines
