Lead Level Designer

Cloud Chamber is looking for an inspired and collaborative Lead Level Designer to join our team and help shape the world of BioShock. You have a well-developed sense of how game systems, narrative, and spatial design combine to deliver memorable player stories in an immersive sandbox world with an eye for the clarity of presentation that allows for an intuitive player experience. We appreciate designers with a keen interest in the ways in which design ingredients can be leveraged to promote and reward player experimentation and mastery. You love to use every available tool to infuse the game’s content with anecdotes. In addition, we’re looking for someone who is zealous about creating exciting and dynamic content that brings the game’s narrative to life.
For this leadership role, we’re looking for someone who is energized by the opportunity to manage and mentor a team of creators, to foster a collaborative and creative space, and to champion our values.
Job Duties
- Manage a team of designers entrusted with implementing gameplay content in an immersive sandbox world
- Supervise relevant multi-disciplinary work pods in the development and presentation of quests, scripted events and layouts
- Identify and implement standard methodologies and workflows conducive to consistency and deliverability of game content
- Implement communication strategies for enhancing the cross-pollination of ideas and sharing of knowledge amongst content creators
- Collaborate closely with various partners to track game progression, variety, and pacing
- Support and mentor designers in their career progression
- Work with producers to manage schedules and milestone deliverables
Skills, Experience and Qualifications
- Shipped at least one AAA project as a senior or lead designer, and appreciate the complexity of taking an idea from concept to ship
- You have experience managing process and a history of leading by example
- Self-motivated with an eye for solution-based problem solving
- Excellent communications skills: verbal, written and visual
- Ability to prioritize tasks and manage competing priorities
- Collaborative, compassionate, and authentic
- Curious and excited about game design theory and pushing the medium forward
- And of course, we're looking for someone who knows, loves and plays games
