Lead Level Designer - Permanent

OVERVIEW
London Studio are building a team from the ground up for an upcoming PlayStation 5 online game. Quality is something that we are immensely proud to be aiming for, and we are looking at putting the right team together to help take us forward. New starters will be joining at the perfect time to get involved in shaping our plans for a project we are exceptionally passionate about.
We are also part of a wider network of PlayStation Studios and there are lots of opportunities for collaboration and wider support from our sister studios like Insomniac, Guerrilla, Naughty Dog and Media Molecule to name a few.
As Lead Level Designer, you will set the vision and standard for Level & Mission Design for our new game. You will be hands-on and lead your team to produce benchmark level layouts and scripts, ultimately delivering the highest quality player experience.
Scope of Work
- Work with Lead Designers & Design Director to deliver on the product vision
- Build outstanding missions, utilising core mechanics in varied and exciting way
- Influence the creation of core mechanics, which can be reused across missions
- Collaborate with the art and narrative teams to build a memorable world
- Balance & fine-tune the progression, challenges, and rewards within your levels
- Define tool requirements with developers to help improve in-house tooling
- Uphold the Mission Design documentation process
- Assist with prototyping, research, and development
- Build the LD team and carry out performance evaluations
Experience / Knowledge
- Experience in a Lead Level/Mission Design on a AAA game
- Excellent document writing and diagrammatic skills
- Broad level understanding of visual scripting tools & level editing packages
- Portfolio that demonstrates your ability to build & script missions
Pluses
- Experience designing maps for Coop gameplay (local or online)
- Experience designing for online multiplayer combat
- Experience working on GaaS or ‘Ongoing’ games
- Experience in developing AAA games
- Experience working with Engines and tools such as Unity or Unreal
- Experience Scripting in C#

Complexity
This is a Lead level role and as such you will have experience working collaboratively in a leadership position, whilst owning multiple levels to set the standard for level design across the studio. You will also have experience mentoring and building up the skills & tools of your team.

Our roles can be flexible in terms of work location in the UK. We will consider the individual’s preference for hybrid, remote or onsite working. Unfortunately we are not in a position to accommodate remote working outside of the UK.
