Lead Gameplay Engineer

Certain Affinity is looking to hire a Lead Gameplay Engineer to lead our Halo gameplay engineering team with passion, focus, and drive. This role will balance hands-on programming and managing people. You should be a highly capable software engineer with a deep understanding of gameplay systems and solutions, exemplary attention to detail, and a passion for amazing and rock-solid gameplay!
Responsibilities:
- Lead a team of engineers at a variety of experience levels
- Turn ambiguous technical requirements into well-defined tasks that are delivered on time
- Collaborate with artists, designers, and producers to prioritize, schedule, and assign tasks to the engineering team
- Hire and mentor less experienced engineers, providing feedback, career growth, and development opportunities
- Implement gameplay features in C++, leading by example for your team
- Take responsibility for your team’s network, memory, GPU and CPU footprints, as well as the overall success of the gameplay experience
Requirements:
- Experience leading a team of 4 or more engineers
- 5+ years of professional software engineer experience
- Strong skills in C++, data structures, and object-oriented design
- Strong 3D vector and matrix math skills
- Familiar with core game systems such as scripting, UI, rendering, animation, physics, and data pipelines
- Experience with networked game logic
- Excellent collaboration and communication skills
- Passion for multiplayer FPS games and familiarity with engineering techniques common to the genre
Extra Credit:
- 1 or more shipped titles (especially in a lead role)
- Development experience in multiple game engines
- Console experience (Xbox platform preferred)
- Experience with additional languages (ie. Lua, C#, Python)
