Lead Game Designer, RTS

Blizzard Entertainment is looking for a Lead Designer to help shape the future of our RTS games: StarCraft, StarCraft 2, and Warcraft 3. The ideal candidate will have an absolute passion for Real-Time Strategy games, experience leading development teams, and a drive to help other designers reach their full potential.

We are the custodians of some of Blizzard's most epic experiences, games that have brought endless hours of replayability and enjoyment to players. Whether it’s battling the Zerg in the Koprulu sector or staking your claim on Azeroth, we’re continuing to push these giants to new heights, and we need champions to embark on this journey with us.

COVID-19 Hiring Update: We’ve transitioned to a work-from-home model and we’re continuing to interview and hire during this time. This role is expected to begin as a remote position. We understand each person’s circumstances may be unique and will work with you to explore possible interim options.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate with leadership to set high-level direction.
• Communicate project vision throughout the team and stakeholders.
• Champion the voice of the player within the development team.
• Oversee the development of content and features from inception through release.
• Collaborate with all development disciplines to ensure releases meet Blizzard’s legendary quality bar.
• Work with the production team to set development priorities and the project schedule.
• Provide mentorship and career growth for designers on the team.
• Evangelize the games to the teams, the company, and the community.

Requirements

• Absolute passion for Blizzard and RTS games.
• A minimum of 5 years’ experience in game design, including experience leading cross-functional development teams on shipped products.
• Experience managing and providing mentorship for other designers.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Extensive content and system design experience including creatively owning complete implementations from concept to delivery.

Pluses

• Familiar with agile development.
• Experience with live games and community support.
