We are seeking a passionate Data Scientist who is adept at cultivating key insights, in-game tracking and analysis of freemium economics, to help us grow, engage and build lasting relationships with the avid game community.
Qualifications:
The Lead Game Data Scientist will lead the DS team and work with product management to drive KPIs on existing and new titles. The ideal candidate must be a mobile game fanatic, highly analytical and focused on developing the hypotheses and insights that fuel better and better game play, conversions, engagement and LTV. You are driven and passionate about finding out what is going on inside a game and driving material change in KPIs. You are more than just a ‘number cruncher’; you are a hands-on leader capable of driving a team, visualizing and analyzing the big picture using big data and machine learning; in short you drive measurable results.
Responsibilities:
- Own game KPIs
- Strategically manage the activities of the data science team to drive ROI
- Deliver compelling actionable insights to influence decisions and roadmaps
- Analytically tackle problems and deliver robust modeling
- Communicate convincingly through visual storytelling
- Design and analyze experiments that advise decisions and help us continue to service the needs of our players
- Lead data science team on end to end data pipelines that empower end users
- Contribute to the innovative thinking culture that drives our craft
- Shape and manipulate sophisticated datasets to discover opportunities for driving value for the business
- Apply creative thinking towards designing, testing, verifying, and implementing solutions
- Champion our games and studio, and collaborate with analytics teams across Clipwire Games
Requirements:
- Experience leading a data science team on a free to play mobile game
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Math, Statistics, Economics, or other quantitative field or better
- Experience with a diverse set of technologies and predictive modeling tools (Tableau, SQL, Mode, Spark) to deliver insights for creating dashboards, reports, and visualizations
- Experience using Product Intelligence services like Amplitude or Delta DNA
- Proficiency in (statistical) programming languages like R, Python and proven mastery with SQL (or other related database technologies)
- Economic modeling experience and expertise a must have
- Good understanding of A/B testing methodologies
- Experience in social or freemium game economies or SAS equivalent
- Proven ability to work in a fast-paced team environment, and to meet changing deadlines on multiple projects simultaneously
Nice-to-Haves (but not required):
- 2+ years of work experience in data science/analytics – specifically in the gaming industry
- 4+ years experience as a data scientist in a mobile game studio making freemium games with a focus on in-game economies
