Founded in 2007, Lumos Labs is the leader in brain training. Over 100 million users have used our Lumosity application to train their cognitive skills, playing our games over 7 billion times. We support trailblazing cognitive research and there have been over 65 peer-reviewed publications in academic journals using Lumosity games, assessments, or data. We are building one of the premier digital health brands and are looking for talented, mission-oriented people to join us on the journey. Lumos Labs is located in the SoMa area of San Francisco, CA with remote colleagues country- and worldwide. This position can be performed anywhere in the U.S.
WE’RE LOOKING FOR
We’re looking for a Lead Staff Engineer (full stack: web frontend, backend, and knowledge of mobile) to lead the development of medical products that create digital treatments to improve the lives of patients experiencing conditions that impact their cognition.
In this role, you’ll work closely with product managers, designers, engineers, domain experts, and stakeholders to create experiences that enable patients to treat health conditions through digital software.
The ideal candidate has a track record of successfully shipping software products and has a passion for health & wellness. This role will be focused on creating and delivering a pipeline of products through clinical trials and into the commercial market.

YOU WILL
- Help the team to define the “what” by working closely with the product manager, stakeholders, and others to define the requirements and scope of projects
- Define the “how” by working with engineering teammates to create documentation that explains how the software will be built, tested, and delivered to customers
- Technology we use to implement our software includes TypeScript, Flutter, and AWS
- In collaboration with teammates, develop software by combining existing Lumos Labs games and technology with new web and mobile features to create products for use as digital therapeutics
- Raise teammate's skills by tapping into your years of experience to guide and mentor on topics like breaking down tasks from requirements, estimating effort, and predictably meeting expectations
- Participate in and help guide development processes that are agile, agreed upon by the team, and continuously improved
- Communicate with teammates, internal and external partners, and stakeholders
YOU HAVE
- A growth mindset
- You have worked on and delivered software projects using various technologies, both web, and mobile
- You have significant experience using a strongly typed language
- Mobile development fluency
- Experience guiding a diverse team toward successful launches of software products
- Experience working in a regulatory environment (medical devices, finance, etc.)
- And we’d be even more excited if you have…
- Released software as a medical device (SaMD) to clinical trials and/or market
- Worked with Quality department and/or a Quality Management System (we’ve chosen Greenlight Guru)
- Worked in the medical device industry
