Lead Environment Artist

Job Description

Unbroken Studios is looking for an experienced Lead Environment Artist to join our development family, creating AAA content with an independent spirit. If you are a veteran artist who loves elevating others and guiding a team to greatness, this opportunity is your chance to shine.

You will use your leadership skills and eye for detail to support a team of seasoned environment artists as they create stylized AAA environments for an upcoming competitive multiplayer title. You will work with the Creative Director and concept artists to create a vision for each environment, and drive the execution of that environment through each stage of 2D and 3D development.

• Demonstrate an understanding of the game's art direction and articulate it verbally and artistically
• Oversee the quality and execution of all of internal and external assets related to environment
• Establish compelling and well-researched visions for new environments, backed by references and narrative
• Give feedback and direction to ensure all produced art is consistent to quality and style
• Work with production and leadership to establish and document art production process and pipelines
• Create environment style guides and documentation, and oversee training of new artists on the team
• Collaborate with design to ensure environments meet design best practices in terms of sightlines, lighting, and flow
• Generate asset lists and collaborate with producers to create and adjust environment roadmap
• Work with engineering and tech artists to establish budgets and hit performance benchmarks
• Demonstrate an ownership mentality in both the artistic vision and the schedule of the environment team

Qualifications

• Demonstrable ability to create high quality 3D assets and environments on modern platforms
• Examples of your ability to create, share and deliver on a creative vision
• Proven experience leading an environment team with a postitive, supportive mindset
• Ability to create detailed style guides, documentation, and paintovers
• Experience creating, owning and delivering on long-term team schedules
• Clear verbal and written communication skills and within your discipline and across all development disciplines
• Ownership mentality and collaborative attitude regarding all aspects of environment art

Plusses

• Experience working in UE4
• Shipped title as a Lead Environment artist or 5+ years as a professional environment artist
• 2D concepting skills
• Extensive knowledge of art history and/or global architecture
• Passion for multiplayer games
