Lead Environment Artist

This is a full-time position in Chicago (IL), Nashville (TN), or Orlando (FL) with relocation options for out-of-state applicants.

Iron Galaxy is looking for a Lead Environment Artist to elevate and establish the visual quality of our projects. As a leader on the team, you’ll spearhead the mood of environment art through modeling, sculpting, textures, materials, and in-editor compositions. Your experience with managing teams will be critical as you shepherd the artists that report to you on a successful growth path and lead communication on cross-functional teams. We work on a variety of games and we look for artists that are excited to shift between both Stylized and Realistic work.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Lead a team of environment artists to create an emotionally driven world or levels
• Review and deliver assets within the project’s artistic direction and deadlines
• Understand features and work to build environments around the gameplay experience
• Maintain a high visual quality bar within performance constraints
• Mentor and contribute to the growth of other artists
• Work with Lead Artist to communicate visual direction
• Establish and maintain proper creation pipeline for art assets going in-game
• Communicate and collaborate with other development disciplines
• Work with Production to schedule and track tasks

DESIRED SKILLS

• Strong communication, organizational, and leadership skills
• Experience leading a team in crafting interesting and detailed worlds
• Deep understanding of rendering and technical constraints related to environment art
• Meaningful experience working with industry-standard engines and software
