Lead Data Scientist

WHO DO WE WANT
Double Loop Games is looking for an experienced Lead Data Scientist to help us understand, react to, and predict player experience. The ideal candidate is very familiar with the live operation of a F2P mobile game at scale. This Data Scientist will work closely with product management, design, engineering, and marketing on a variety of areas from level balancing to user acquisition campaign optimization. They should showcase a track record of high quality work and enthusiasm for their craft, and be experienced using common analysis practices & technologies.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Gather requirements from product management, design, and other stakeholders to track KPIs of interest
- Build charts & dashboards to visualize KPIs in an easily digestible format
- Collaborate with client and backend engineers to record & report metrics
- Incorporate third-party information from app stores, marketing/attribution data, and ad networks
- Measure operational success & work with the product manager to identify opportunities for improvement including player economies, sales, and storefront engagement
- Conduct rigorous A/B testing of features and communicate outcomes clearly to a broad audience
- Work with gameplay engineers to build AI that can play puzzles and predict player difficulty & facilitate tuning
- Work with marketing to build a predictive model of player LTV and other tools needed for user acquisition optimization
- Identify player segments that can be used for gameplay experiments and marketing
- Facilitate data migration and recovery to maximize flexibility & retention of data
- Support the rollout of new game versions while comparing & contrasting KPIs
- Ensure that governmental compliance requirements are satisfied for data retention & deletion (i.e. GDPR)
QUALIFICATIONS
- 3+ years in a similar role
- A degree or equivalent experience in computer science, mathematics, or statistics
- Ability to craft effective & efficient SQL plus a high level language like Python or R
- Familiarity with ETL architecture used for client- and server-based recording
- Familiarity with doing analysis on large data sets
- Familiarity with cloud computing using AWS, Azure, GCP, or equivalent
- Expertise with data visualization tools like Tableau or Redash
- Comfortable using Excel or Google Sheet formulas as needed
- Ability to iterate quickly
- Excellent communication and planning skills
- Extreme attention to detail
- Experience with git or similar version control systems
- Conscientious and self-motivated
HUGE PLUSSES
- Interest or experience with AI or machine learning
- Familiarity with BigQuery, Redshift, or Synapse
- Familiarity with C# and ASP.NET Core
- Experience with Unity
- Experience managing and mentoring other data scientists or analysts

- A strong desire to step outside of your comfort zone and learn new things
