Lead Concept Artist [Star Wars Project]

Job Description
We’re collaborating with Disney and Lucasfilm Games on a new story-driven open-world video game set in the beloved Star Wars galaxy. This is a lore we love and want to do justice with a game and story that bring both new and lifelong fans on an immersive and outstanding journey that will stay with them for years.
As a Lead Concept Artist at Massive, you'll closely collaborate with the Art Director, Art Producer, and a team of Concept Artists to help us enhance, design, and create an immersive world. You will also be working with other multidisciplinary specialists, guiding concepts for environments, props, and characters within the Star Wars lore.
This is a permanent position based in Malmö Sweden, with the opportunity to work partially from home according to our Flexible Workplace Policy. Please apply in English (our company language), and we’ll check your application asap!
What you’ll do
- Guiding and developing high-quality Concept Art;
- Providing constructive Art feedback, mentoring, and coaching your team;
- Ensuring a productive internal workflow and beneficial relationships with external partners and CoDev studios;
- Prioritizing and organizing the team’s day-to-day tasks to ensure that deliverables are completed on time and to specification,
- Communicating the vision and needs with other teams and stakeholders through stand-ups, meetings, 1on1s, and syncs;
- Organizing work and production backlog using project management/planning tools (e.g Jira);
- Working together with producers, leads, directors, and other teams to promote the quality of the project.
Qualifications
What you’ll bring
You have the capacity to work autonomously in a collaborative team within an iterative design process. You have the ability to promote creative pitches and communicate effectively on your point. You urge to create content that attracts the eye and sets the standard in the gaming industry. You want to develop new skills and apply your learnings to projects in the making. You are team-oriented and have the ability to multi-task in an innovative environment, towards deadlines. You have a positive attitude with the ability to give and receive constructive feedback. You are excited about video games and entertainment. Your ability to see both the big-picture and deliver high-quality, detailed art concepts will set you up for success in this role.
Whilst being a great artist, you're also a creative coach and collaborator, working for an effective workflow. As a person, you're organized, have a positive attitude with the ability to give and receive constructive feedback, as well as coach and mentor your team. As an artist, you've enthusiasm for film and game concept art. For example, you've a combination of classical art training and concept art training, with a focus on games.
Besides the above we’re looking for someone aligned with our core values and the following skills and experience:
- A relevant portfolio of artwork (must include Concept Art for games);
- Previous experience guiding and/or motivating discussion within an art team;
- Proven years of experience as a Concept Artist or similar across the full dev-cycle of a game project;
- Relevant degree in an Art/Design field, or the equivalent work experience
- Ability to create concepts for environments, characters, and props with high quality;
- Advanced understanding of composition and lighting
