Lead Character Artist

IO Interactive are currently in need of an experienced full time Lead Character Artist to come on board for the incredibly exciting Project 007 – our new James Bond title. The story is going to be true to the legend of Bond, yet completely unique in its own light. Our game will give players the opportunity to take on the challenge of being the worlds most renowned Secret Agent, and earn their 00 status, whilst also providing a much sought-after origin story.
Are you a talented Character Artist with a rich history in the AAA games industry as either a Senior or a Lead? Are you technically gifted and problem solving orientated? Do you have a passion for creating fantastic characters which capture the user’s attention and contribute to the tone of Bond? Then look no further – this is a role for you!
You will be the driving force in the character department, the one who leads by example, deals with any technical issues, and mentors and teaches their team members to do the same. You will be involved in the initial design of graphics and technical considerations of implementation, and your goal is to set the tone and standard for how we at IOI deliver world class character art within our games.
What you will do- Lead key team members and guide them through their process of the creation of in-game characters.
- Be a voice of authority in all aspects of the pipeline, such as shading, texturing, modelling, marvellous/substance painter, or designer.
- Use your high level of technical understanding to solve all issues that you may face within the pipeline and teach other on how to overcome these problems.
- Collaborate with other departments such as production to ensure that everyone’s
- Ensure that all character art assets are delivered on schedule, and that all your team are keeping up with the deadlines that you set.
- Fix bugs and optimize game assets for required performance and to comply with specifications on various platforms
Who you are- A driven and determined lead who thrives on leading by example and ensuring everyone is performing at the level required to make our games hit the top tier.
- A great background in AAA game development, either as a Lead or a Senior who has been carrying out the tasks of a lead and would like to make the step up.
- Hands-on experience working with 3D sculpting applications such as ZBrush
- Experience with texturing tools such as substance painter and designer.
- Knowledge of rigging principles and technical constraints of characters to understand the impact on the extended pipeline.
- In-depth knowledge and proven experience working with for example 3ds Max and Maya for building game characters.
- Experienced mentor, with a strong urge to support your team and critique their work when necessary.
We would love it if you had- A background within fine art.
- Experience with animation.
- Experience with Marvelous Designer.
- Experience with outsourcing workflows or cross-site experience.
