Intercept Games is the developer for Kerbal Space Program 2, the much-anticipated sequel to the beloved Kerbal Space Program that launched a thousand aerospace careers. We’re now building a new team to work on an unannounced mission that has us extremely excited and fully continues our goal to make phenomenal games for our players to love. The Challenge:
Lead a diverse team of artists in the conceptualization, prototyping, and production of a visually-stunning, humorous and groundbreaking new game. You will define the visual identity of the game, providing inspiration, guidance, and mentorship to the members of your team. You'll not only set a high bar for visual quality and polish, you'll be the primary point of contact between the art department and other areas of the game, including engineering and marketing.
What You’ll Take On
- Establish and implement art team processes and standards
- Drive artistic vision for the product and associated marketing materials
- Manage, lead, mentor and evaluate a team of artists and animators
- Work well with other artists, engineers, designers, and producers
- Be key point of contact for tech artists, animators, and graphics engineers
- Own communication within art and across other fields
- Accurately estimate schedules and deliver high quality work to that schedule
- Review art from other team members
What You Bring
- 5+ years of game development experience
- 1+ years of art lead experience
- Proven grasp of art and visual design concepts, ability to communicate an artistic vision through concepts and paint-overs
- Ability to articulately and constructively critique assets and animations
- Self-motivated and energetic team player with a very strong work ethic and collaborative demeanor
- Strong communication skills
- Ability to clearly articulate a vision and state project goals
- Eagerness to discover new processes and tools as product evolves and promote their use within the team
PREFERRED SKILLS
- Shipped at least 1 title in Lead role
- Experience developing with Unity, Photoshop, ZBrush, 3DSMax/Maya, Amplify, Substance Designer, Substance Painter, and World Creator (or equivalent applications)
- Experience developing for multiple platforms (Windows, PS4, Xbox One)
- Passion for space exploration
