Lead Artist (Live Ops)

About the Role

We are looking for lead artist, a skilled 2D illustrator, who can manage a small team of artists, along with ensuring the highest quality from a new team creating daily content for our casual games portfolio. The lead artist should be able to manage their time to balance both hands on work and the leadership and support of the team. The lead will have an important and pivotal role in shaping the LiveOps Art Team and establishing effective workflows both inside and out. The quality of your work will be seen by millions of players on a daily basis and have a huge impact on the success of our games.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage a small team of 2d illustration artists
• Support and mentor artists on the team to achieve the highest quality artwork
• Guide artists to follow the designated art styles for the projects
• Work closely with the studio art director to achieve the quality delivery goals of the department.
• Balance hands on work, whilst leading a small team of artists.
• You and the team will be creating key 2D artwork and illustrations for social media, emails, game popups, store objects, temporary content for our games such as progression map illustrations, reward medals, UI elements and other objects
• Embrace the use of contemporary technology and techniques in the creation of artwork
• Ability to create artwork of different complexities & styles that would match our products
• Concepting and designing assets in collaboration with the Product team to ensure the art style is appropriate and consistent
• Maintaining a high level of quality, ensuring that your work stands up against other big-name mobile games
• Working on our multiple projects at the same time
• Working with different international teams
• Communicating and collaborating with the other teams such as Product Teams, Game Artists, Tech Artists and QAs
• Ability to manage, mentor and develop LiveOps Art Team
• Quality control of the assets and providing feedback for LiveOps Art team
• Preparing actual briefs for the LiveOps Art Team
• Being open to learning new tools

Requirements

• Experience leading a small team of 2d artists
• 3+ years of experience leading teams of artists on Mobile/Web applications or as a Marketing Artist. Experience working in the game industry is a bonus.
• Experience managing the high-quality delivery of 2d art assets
• A portfolio of previous experience, showcasing artwork and projects
• Good communication skills in English
• Ability to conceptualize new ideas for themes, rewards, and other collectables
• Professional experience with the Adobe tools
• Understanding of the mobile games market, its design styles and trends
• Confidence in working with a range of art styles and with different design requirements
• Excellent composition and colouristic skills
• Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both in writing and orally
• Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
• Excellent written and verbal English communication
• Good organizational skills and passion for details
• Experience in working with Unity - an asset
• Management experience - an asset
