A bit about us:
Gods Unchained is a revolutionary card game backed by the power of the blockchain in which players actually own the cards and the artwork on them. Each card has a limited digital rarity that is proven by the blockchain. Our cards and the art on them are the centrepiece of the game and will fall under the direction of a talented and multi-skilled Lead Art Director.
As our Lead Art Director, you will redefine and create the Art style and quality bar across Gods Unchained (mainly with a view to artistic style, 2D and 3D Art). You would research, create and define Art to elevate Immutable’s visuals and the team members creating them.
You have the opportunity to create and direct 2D, 3D and concept artwork and art generation for use in Games, Web and Marketing. You will also work across sketches, colour studies, 3D prototypes, animation and animation styles, mockups or prototypes using tools such as Maya, Photoshop, and Illustrator.
You will be trusted to advise on the usability and functionality of the Immutable X platform from an artist perspective. In the future you could be responsible for the subsequent art projects in our games studio.
The world of NFTs is about to explode, and this would be an opportunity to be a part of the boom from the start. Artists are going to be fully recognized in this new world, as their artwork will have real digital rarity. You will help shape the future about how artists and creators are compensated for their contributions to games.
Here’s how you’ll contribute:
- Full ownership of managing the Art Department and implementation of artistic changes and improvements to the game, the card set art production pipeline is optimized and exceptional
- Design and implement world-class artwork across multiple games
- Lead the definition and shaping of the Artwork generation, ideation and definition throughout the product across web and in game
- Help us build Art standards across the company
- Manage all outsourced artists, art houses and ensure work is being delivered
- Provide feedback to the wider team and establish excellent working relationships
- Review all existing assets and assets in production of the next, undesigned set of cards including the set icon, musical influence, overarching style, and key art pieces
- Provide regular reports to the Game Director on proposed changes in direction
- Ensure all necessary assets are properly tracked and moving through the pipeline
- Provide a hiring/outsourcing plan for Art Team growth to support needs in the coming year
- Devise a new digital art collectible and have it shipped to customers
- Ship a full card set expansion complete with boards and trinkets
- Direct/create the art style for GU and beyond which form the backbone of a well-defined brand
A bit about you:
- Previous experience in an Art Director role
- 5 years crafting art for video games
- Can create and direct artists to create amazing 2d and 3d artwork at a world-class level
- Loves Illustration, and the process of working with other through concept, overpainting reviews, and finaling to deliver consistent visuals from a stable of artists
- Has created world-class artwork as necessary to define a product, its brand, and its goals
- An excellent coach. You can improve performance, and prepare your team for continued success
- Understands how to meld the static 2D and 3D world with strong vfx and animations that visually explain what’s happening in the game
Some extra skills that would be awesome:
- An understanding of blockchain and it’s potential
- TCG game experience (computer or real)
- Experience with joining a live project, and carrying it forward
- Experience with melding visuals with audio in collaboration with the audio department
