Lead 3D Artist

Zynga is looking for Lead 3D Artist who can take care of the 3D art pipeline of one of our live game. As a Lead 3D Artist, you will be responsible for managing 3D art production, supervising art teams, and reviewing all 3D art content for the game. You will be working closely with a team of talented 2D, 3D, Animation and Tech artists. You will have complete responsibility of 3D art deliverables, responsible for managing in house and outsourcing 3D pipeline. Also, the role entails a great deal of responsibility on managing and mentoring of junior level artists. You will be responsible for their performance evaluation and career development.
As a Lead 3D Artist, you have a strong understanding of artistic fundamentals, both 2D and 3D. You are familiar with industry-standard technology, including Maya, Photoshop, and Unity 3D.
A pillar of your team, you are able to support other artists and provide constructive feedback both up and down. You strive to never sacrifice quality and always maintain a high visual bar. A self-motivated person, consistently push to grow as an artist and better leader. You stay on the forefront of new technology and can advocate for new processes, workflows, and best practices.
Responsibilities:
- Full responsibility of managing and maintaining game 3D art pipeline including outsourcing.
- Responsible for delivery and quality of all the 3D assets in the game.
- Direct Manager for a team of 3D and Tech artists.
- Responsible for growth and performance management of direct reportees.
- Interpret concepts, specs, and direction both from design and the Art Director.
- Work directly with production to ensure that schedules and plans meet business and project needs.
- Maintain a close working relationship with your direct manager, producers, leads, directors and other teams to push project quality.
- Provide regular review and feedback on teams work in a clear and constructive manner.
- Identify inconsistencies and opportunities for improvement within the creative process.
- Responsible for game art costing and budgeting
- Take an active role in maintaining and refining the game team vision.
- Maintaining efficient collaboration with other verticals like PM, design, and dev’s
- Managing and mentoring other team members.
- Actively participate to the constant improvement of work methods and pipelines
- Research, explore, and communicate best practices in art.
Required Skills:
- A strong portfolio demonstrating 3D artistic skills.
- Strong working knowledge of industry-standard software, including MAYA, 3ds Max, etc. Excellent creativity and artistic skills. An eye for composition, realism, texture, colour, and lighting
- Solid experience in the game market.
- 10+ years of professional experience, at least 1 of which is in a Lead-level position
- Experience in team leadership and people management.
- Strong understanding of Unity and Photoshop
- Expertise in art/design, and a demonstrated ability to mentor and enhance the efforts of fellow artists.

- Able to drive change and inspire others to generate new ideas
