Layout Artist (Narrative Adventure)

We're looking for a Layout Artist on dark, narrative driven blockbuster title with genre defining goals. This highly ambitious project takes atmosphere, narrative and player agency firmly into ground-breaking territory on next-generation Unreal 5 & hardware technologies.
The layout artist ensures that all assets used in animation / cinematics are setup consistently, correctly and that a 1:1 parity between the animator’s work in the DCC and the engine is preserved throughout production.
This is a great entry-level role within the animation team that offers career progress in artistic or technical directions. It is also a fantastic opportunity for applicants who are keen to break into the games industry.
Key Responsibilities:
Core duties involve re-purposing assets from other departments for animation / cinematics work. Including but not limited to:
- Characters / creatures
- Environment
- Props
- Vehicles
May also involve engine-side work or DCC-engine work, including but not limited to:
- Optimising settings for cinematic or animation playback.
- Adding meta-data to animation data to enable cine-gameplay handshaking, expose animation moments as events to be used by design, audio or other departments
Requirements
- Have created or made animation, or short animated films using 3D animation tools, or has any technical animation experience, rigging for example, or has a folio of 3D work.
- A strong desire to work in games and / games animation
- Fastidious, well-organised and detail-focused
- Work well with others and embraces different approaches to different problems.
- Take initiative, anticipating team needs and producing solutions for them.
Additional or Desired Skills :
- Made or helped make a game in a professional or non-professional capacity.
- Held a job in games and are looking to step-up into a specific department.
- Any Python or similar scripting experience or a demonstrable interest in it.
