As the Korean Linguistic Specialist, you will be responsible for communicating, understanding, and translating spoken or written statements between English⇔Korean.

The Korean Linguistic Specialist will also be supporting and reporting to the Day Zero by Streamline Localization team, which provides services supporting localization of game content and performing Korean language checks (LQA) of games, ensuring the text is displayed correctly during the gameplay, and reporting any linguistic flaws. Furthermore, the Korean Linguistic Specialist will act as the language bridge between external Korean clients and any internal business divisions supporting co-development work. This role is looking for individuals who are detail-oriented as well as confident in their Korean abilities, both linguistically and culturally.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Work closely with the Project Managers in communicating with our Korean clients.
  • Act as an interpreter during the meetings with our Korean clients.
  • Assist in maintaining/building a good relationship with the clients.
  • Translate all technical documents, briefs, and feedback (English⇔Korean).
  • Localizing and reviewing text information in-game applications (English⇔Korean).
  • Website localization and video subtitling.
  • Identifying spelling, grammar, punctuation mistakes, and other language errors in the localized game.
  • Problem-solving during the localization process.
  • Reporting bugs, language errors and making improvement suggestions.

Requirements

  • At least 3 years of experience in translating/interpreting English⇔Korean.
  • At least 2 years of work experience in Korea or a Korean multi-national firm.
  • Ability to write articles/press for website and media publishing in the Korean language.
  • Excellent communication (spoken and written), interpersonal, and presentation skills.
  • Strong understanding of Korean culture.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office suite- Excel, Words, and PowerPoint.

Additional Skills (Preferred)

  • Team-based project experience and/or lead role in team projects.
  • Experience in game development
  • Experience in localization.
  • Basic knowledge using game engines such as Unreal Engine and Unity and localization tools.
  • Additional languages such as Japanese (N1) or Chinese or Spanish are a plus.
