We are seeking a technical designer, who is a game or level designer by training and is known for their technical skills. Within a multidisciplinary team the technical designer will be responsible for implementing and deploying daily live operations content.
The technical designer is guided by senior designers and engineers to be an advocate when new features are being developed to ensure all required knobs and tuning valves are surfaced. They will learn the ins and outs of how each game system works and help build content as well as act as a technical reference for other team members.
You must possess the ability to collaborate effectively with design, art, and engineering to creatively solve challenging technical problems.
Responsibilities:
- Assist with weekly live operations event production from design, implementation, bug fixing, live, and updates
- Carry out production tasks as a member of the live ops team; assisting in daily releases to production, building new features, bug fixing, etc
- Learn to design and implement new features and systems that are more complex and technically challenging with other members on the live ops team as customers
- As the customer for new features and systems give input on the production and implementation by working in close collaboration with engineering, art, and design
- Provide feedback and suggestions for improvements to live ops, including suggestions to improve tools and processes, bugs, scheduling, etc
- Help build, test, and bugfix new features and tools before they are released to the rest of the team
Requirements:
- Intermediate Excel knowledge
- Experience in a live ops role on mobile free to play games a plus
- Familiarity with Unity or similar game engines
- 1-3+ years in technical design, scripting or level design
- Drive to understand how things work
- Ability to clearly express ideas (spoken and written)
- Proven analytical and problem-solving skills
- Game or level design experience (technical leaning)
- Knowledge of the Office suite
