Junior Narrative Designer

Crytek is looking for a passionate, imaginative Junior Narrative Designer to join the team in Frankfurt, Germany full time. The successful candidate will become a key member of our in-house narrative team, with a focus on owning and implementing localization.
Our ideal candidate will bring strong writing skills and a general foundation of technical knowledge to the table. As a writer, you should be able to pivot between different styles, formats, and tones across multiple projects. (Please provide writing samples that show off this breadth!) As owner of localization, a passion for language, experience with translation and/or fluency in multiple languages, or general knowledge of localization pipelines would be ideal. Flexibility, creative problem solving, and attention to detail are key skills in every aspect of the job.
Our team is highly collaborative, and our ideal candidate is an able collaborator; can both constructively give and receive clear feedback; can work across departments to develop storytelling elements and the systems that support them; and interested in languages and translation.

Qualified applicants will be asked to complete a Narrative Design test.
Responsibilities
- Write. As a proficient, “story-minded” game writer you will contribute to: character creation, world building, short fiction, dialogue, lore-related video scripts, environment prop texts, weapon names, UI elements, and anything else you have ever seen in a video game that involves words.
- Make it happen. You will take a hands on role in the implementation of game narrative, and the maintenance of those systems, including taking ownership of the narrative localization pipeline.
Requirements
- Outstanding English communication skills, both verbal and written
- Proofreading skill and experience (American English grammar)
- Ability to give and receive constructive feedback, and to iterate on your work
- Interest in and passion for video game narrative, interactive storytelling, and transmedial entertainment
- Knowledge of global languages, translation, and localization pipelines (or willingness to learn)
- General knowledge of CRYENGINE or another game engine (and a willingness to learn)
- General scripting knowledge (Python and/or C++) a plus
- Familiarity with Excel, JIRA, Word, Teams
- Willing to relocate to Frankfurt am Main area, Germany
