Junior Game Designer

PerBlue is looking for our next great Junior Game Designer to join our team of experienced developers and game designers. We’re a growing independent studio whose free-to-play midcore mobile games are being played by millions of people around the world, including the award-winning Disney Heroes: Battle Mode .
Our team brings together experience from major studios in the videogame and technology industries. Headquartered in Madison, Wisconsin, we also work remotely around the United States for an unmatched quality of life and work.
In this role, you’ll work with the Senior Game Developer and our cross-functional team to create amazing experiences for our mobile game fans across the world. You’ll work to understand requirements for new game systems and features, then work closely with our cross-functional production team to create specs and design systems that bring the game and its heroes to life.
Principal responsibilities
- Design levels, abilities and mechanics, keeping balance and economy in mind
- Monitor, analyze, and respond to gameplay data and user feedback, with the health of overall combat meta for one of our games in mind.
Your experience
- At least 6 months of working on videogame game design, to include writing design specs and seeing them all the way through the process to a live game (can include university or personal projects)
- Experience using Unity or other tools to design levels for games.
- A solid understanding of Google Sheets and/or Excel for use in discovering trends in gameplay data, including functions and formulas

- Solid understanding fundamental free-to-play and mobile game business foundations

Additional desired experience to highlight in your application
- University degree in game design, analytics, or related fields
- Mobile, free to play, and/or strategy or MMO game design experience
- Experience with balancing and economy
- Tower defense or merge genre experience
- Experience working on live, financially successful games
