Nimble Giant Entertainment is looking for a full-time Jr. Game Designer.
Our Game Design Department is looking for a talented and passionate Game Designer to join our New Games Team. The ideal candidate would be a collaborative individual with excellent communication, research, and design skills, who loves playing games across various genres for PC and console.
As a Junior Games Designer, you will be responsible for assisting in the creation of new game ideas for our studio. You'll create high level concepts, game pitches, game design documents and visual aids for future projects, and prepare presentations to share with stakeholders. You'll keep up with the latest industry trends and successful games to figure out what makes 'em tick. We're looking for someone with killer communication, collaboration, organization and research skills, and a love for all genres of video games.
Responsibilities
- Participate and contribute in brainstorming sessions with the design team for future projects.
- Create high level concepts, game pitches, game design documents and visual aids to communicate the vision, mechanics, and art direction of future games.
- Prepare and deliver presentations to stakeholders to pitch ideas and gather feedback.
- Stay up to date on the latest industry trends and successful games.
- Analyze what makes games “tick” and identify elements we can incorporate into future games.
- Collaborate with members of the design teams to create a vision for a project.
- Document the game design and provide clear instructions for other members of the team to follow, ensuring that future development teams can pick up and work on the project.
- Play games across various genres and platforms, not only to gain inspiration for their own game designs, but also to stay current with emerging trends in the industry.
- Keep an eye on competitors' sales/revenue and analyze the data.
Requirements
- At least 1 year of experience as a professional Game Designer.
- Excellent communication and documentation skills.
- Discipline to self-manage and self-evaluate.
- Fluency in English, both written and spoken.
Desirable Perks
- Experience with Unreal, Unity or any 3D game engine.
- Experience with iterative design and rapid prototyping.
- Experience modding games.
- Experience with coding or scripting is a big plus.
