Junior Free-to-Play Game Designer
We are currently looking for a Junior Free-to-Play Video Game Designer. This role is directly integrated into our development teams, providing continual support to programmers, artists, senior game designers & project managers. Your primary focus will be the integration of new levels & events, systematic documentation of features, use cases, balancing as well as validating their execution, as directed by the product owners.

Kano is headquartered in beautiful Victoria, BC , but the position is open for remote work anywhere in Canada, with colleagues already in Ontario, Québec, & Nova Scotia.
Responsibilities
- Integrate new levels and events into existing games via Unity & Google Sheets.
- Reverse engineer & research competing products to equip the team with accurate statistics and feature breakdowns.
- Assist in planning sprints in particular for preparing & documenting issues (stories, tasks, bugs), including the test case breakdowns, according to priority and scope.
- Validate issue completion by systematically completing test plans in all player contexts, including client interface, backend systems & analytics.
- Track and clearly document any issues found including reproduction steps, footage and screenshots.
- Monitor live performance health metrics to help the development team detect potential issues and the most relevant segments,
- Attempt to reproduce bugs systematically and propose ideas of symptoms and solutions based on an understanding of the product’s history and its competitive environment.
- Take charge of release checklists and green lighting updates from a quality control perspective.
- Regular game play of our Idle titles.
Required skills
- 1+ years of experience on a live ops Free-to-Play video game (any role, including quality control tester).
- OR a formal education in video game design with understanding of free-to-play
- Very comfortable with Google Spreadsheets
- Comfortable with Unity
- Ability to communicate clearly
- High organization & accuracy in integration tasks
