The role @ Sumo
As a result of growth in the business an opportunity has arisen for a BI Developer to join the Sumo Group (Sumo) BI/Finance team. This is a new role which report directly into the BI Manager. It will provide support to the Group BI function by working strategically with various key stakeholders across the Group to provide vital Business Intelligence to aide with business decisions.
Sumo is a dynamic, growing business with multiple businesses, studios and departments across the Group and as such the specific requirements of the BI department may change as the needs of the business changes. There is a varied suite of tools used by Sumo to deliver BI across the group and therefore there is a varied pipeline of BI projects to deliver that will broaden the skills, knowledge and experience of the BI Team.
This role is a fantastic opportunity to be part of the Sumo family and make a key contribution to helping Sumo achieving its strategic goals.
As Junior BI Developer you will:
- Have a comprehensive understanding of the Sumo Group structure and how the business operates to recognise the BI needs of the business.
- Develop a broad understanding of general IT infrastructure within the group and understand how key systems are integrated.
- Work with IT and other shared service teams to fix system issues and outages to agreed SLAs.
- Become the subject matter expert and initial point of contact for the management and maintenance of the BI tools used throughout the Sumo group, this currently includes:
o IBM Planning Analytics (Architect/TM1 Web/PAW/PAX)
o IBM Cognos Analytics
o IBM Framework Manager
o IBM Cognos Controller
o Microsoft SQL Server and SSMS
- Be the Lead Developer for several BI projects across the Sumo Group, responsible for all elements of the project including:
o stakeholder and project management
o scope and design
o development and delivery
o UAT and training
- Be responsible for the triage of incoming BI requests from the business to ascertain what is required and decide whether the request is in relation to a change request or new project scope.
- Work with the BI Manager to deliver regular system upgrades for all the BI tools.
- Provide ad-hoc support to the AP Team to help manage and maintain the transactional systems whilst working with the system provider to deliver improvements.
- Work with the BI Manager to deliver a BI Training platform for power users and end users of the BI tools.
- Provide cover and deputise for the BI Manager in their absence.
- Ad-hoc admin tasks.
To be successful you will:
- Have at least 1-3 years’ experience using one or more IBM Cognos applications (Planning Analytics, Cognos Analytics or Framework Manager).
- Have substantial knowledge and experience with SQL Server and SSMS.
- Have experience and/or qualifications in Project Management.
- Have strong presentation skills, both written and oral, ability to flex style depending on audience.
- Be strong at building relationships with key stakeholders including negotiation, facilitation and conflict resolution.
- Demonstrate the ability to prioritise in a dynamic business.
- Show a willingness to learn and develop new skills.
- Advanced IT skills such as server management and Office tools e.g. Excel/Access.
Desirable skills:
- Experience and/or knowledge in Cognos Controller.
- Knowledge of API’s using programming languages such Python and/or Postman.
- Experience with Sage 300.
- Experience and/or qualifications in Datawarehousing.
- Part of fully qualified in AAT/CIMA/ACCA.
