ABOUT US: Archiact Interactive is a Vancouver-based Virtual and Augmented Reality (VR/AR) Studio that develops new and unique ways for people to play games and interact with each other. We partner with IP holders, large publishers, and tech brands to create and deliver immersive, high-end game experiences across multiple platforms with a special focus on building new tools for cutting edge emerging technology.

OUR GAMES: Recent titles include DOOM 3: VR Edition (on PSVR), FREEDIVER: Triton Down (on PC, PSVR and Oculus Quest), and MARVEL: Dimension of Heroes (a smartphone-powered Superhero experience built for Lenovo Mirage AR). ROLE OVERVIEW: We are looking for a full-time, permanent Junior Animator to join our team on an incredibly exciting new project. You will be part of a small team of AAA vets who believe that VR’s time is now and want to make the next big VR game event. You are responsible for ensuring all assets are authored and implemented in the appropriate manner while maintaining the visual quality that the project is striving for. This role is for anyone that is looking to start in the industry or for those who are looking for something new and want to grow as animators. We are a Vancouver-based studio but are happy to consider candidates from all over Canada to work remotely.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Work closely with Animation Director, Animators and Technical Animators, to establish the creative, quality and performance bar for the animation team, creating character performances and gameplay oriented animations.
  • Create high quality content utilizing both motion capture data and keyframe animation.
  • Collaborate with different departments to create dynamic user-centric experiences.
  • Troubleshoot and solve animation issues while organizing and prioritizing animation tasks.

REQUIREMENTS:

MUST HAVE:

  • 0 - 1+ years of game dev experience and 1 shipped title (AAA and/or VR experience a plus). This can include an Internship, Co-op and/or Work Placement.
  • A showreel / portfolio demonstrating your skills.
  • Have an understanding of Unreal Engine or similar engine packages, Maya and MotionBuilder.
  • Knowledge of gameplay mechanics and systems.
  • Good facial animation skills and techniques.
  • Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • A self-starter with a strong work ethic.
  • A team-player with the ability to collaborate effectively with various stakeholders in a fast-paced environment.
  • Good organization, communication, and time management skills.
  • The ability to take direction and implement feedback.

NICE TO HAVE:

  • Experience working with VR/AR hardware.
  • Avid VR gamer.
  • Experience working with Motion Capture data and an understanding of its benefits.
