As a Linguistic Specialist, you will be responsible for localizing the games into the Japanese language (Expertise in Japanese culture would be be a bonus!)
The Linguistic Specialist will also be involved in performing Japanese language checking (LQA) of the games, ensuring the text is displayed correctly during the game play, detecting and reporting any linguistic flaws. This role looks for individuals who are detail-oriented as well as confident in their Japanese abilities.
Duties and Responsibilities
• Localizing and reviewing the games into or out of the Japanese language.
• Website localization and video subtitling.
• Identifying spelling, grammar, punctuation mistakes and other Japanese language errors in the game.
• Looking for inconsistencies in texts and inaccurate translations.
• Hunting for wrong or missed-out content.
• Reporting bugs, language errors and making improvement suggestions.
Qualifications
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Fluent in Japanese and English, particularly in writing and reading.
• Strong cultural understanding of Japan.
• Strong internet research skills.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office suite- Excel, Words and PowerPoint.
Additional Skills (preferred)
• Good communication skills and teamwork.
• Interested in the video games industry.
• Basic knowledge in using a game engines such as Unreal Engine and Unity.
• Experience with using different software and applications.
• Skills in designing game user interferences (UI) or logos.
• Strong understanding of other languages such as Korean, German, French, Italian, Spanish highly sought after.
