The Localization Team is recruiting for the role of English-to-Japanese Games Translator.
What you'll be doing:
- Perform translation from English to Japanese for mobile online game client text, feature blogs, marketing copy.
- Primarily focus on one assigned game but with opportunities to contribute to several others.
- Manage TMs and TBs across collaboration systems. Proactively log new entries, resolve terminology conflicts, and communicate updates to stakeholders.
- Coordinate with LQA to ensure issue resolution that addresses player needs as well as team data management practices.
- Become a subject matter expert in initiatives by the Localization Team.
- Represent the team at meetings with developers.
- Identify workflow cues from other stakeholders and react appropriately to adjust our deliverables and priorities.
- Use your knowledge of language implementation pitfalls to advise designers about naming.
Your background and who you are:
- You have experience being accountable to feedback from editors or testers about your English-to-Japanese translation.
- You believe you have a knack for translation of digital interactive products.
- You play games on multiple platforms in English and Japanese.
- You are aware of how user expectation varies in different locales.
- You’re a good writer in Japanese.
- You initiate discussion about issues that you impact and benefit your work.
- You work effectively with coworkers of various disciplines and cultural backgrounds.
- You know a little bit about how software is made, or have studied on your own to try to learn.

- An English to Japanese translation of the headline and first 50 words of any recent tech news article. Submit the source & target text.
- A description of your favorite linguistic project ever worked. Include your role/title, a content description, word counts translated, duties, and comments on your challenges or achievements.
