The Nitty Gritty

Big Viking Games is on the hunt for an Intermediate Software Developer to join our Technology team! Reporting to our Head of Tech, you'll be working alongside other developers on our two flagship games - YoWorld and FishWorld. The ideal candidate will be a generalist, having previous experience in a Full-Stack development role. This position is offered remotely in Ontario.

The Duties:

• Write robust, efficient and maintainable code in Java, TypeScript, and PHP.
• Ability to write efficient SQL statements and work with MySQL
• Write tools in JavaScript and Javascript libraries
• Ability to do code reviews and provide feedback to other developers
• Use performance profilers, such as memory analyzers, CPU profilers and network sniffers to improve our existing code
• Experience with solving difficult bugs in production

The Requirements:

The Must Haves

• Completed post-secondary education in Computer Science or Engineering
• 3+ years of development experience - preferably in a full-stack environment
• Previous experience having shipped multiple features in a live ops environment

The Nice to Haves

• Experience with TypeScript and React a strong plus
• Experience with PHP
• Experience with Redis, Memcache, Docker, and Ansible would be highly beneficial
• A passion for playing mobile and online games
• F2P game development experience
