We’re Criterion, and we love making games!

For more than fifteen years we’ve entertained millions of players around the world with our award-winning games. Our talented people have expressed their passion for world-class game feel, AAA audiovisual quality and technical innovation in the Burnout & Need for Speed series and and more recently in Battlefield 1, Star Wars X-Wing VR, Starfighter Assault and Arcade for Star Wars Battlefront II and Firestorm for Battlefield V.

We believe that healthy, engaged teams make great games, so we place enormous value on collaboration, fresh ideas, and unique perspectives. We’d love to hear yours! Crunch doesn’t help make a better game. We don’t do it. For the past three years we are very proud to have been recognised by gamesindustry.biz as one of the best places to work in the UK. Let’s talk about how you could be a part of it.

What an Integration Engineer does at Criterion

At Criterion we love making games. We also love getting better at making games. We use EA’s Frostbite engine as a basis to make our titles which means we benefit from the combined efforts of all the other users who push changes back. This means Frostbite releases frequent updates and fixes we need to bring across to our development lines. An Integration Engineer at Criterion will merge the latest and greatest features from our Frostbite team with our Criterion game code. We expect applicants to have 5+ years of industry experience and be proficient at resolving merge conflicts and fixing build errors.

You will report into our Director of Engineering and will need to communicate with a variety of people as you diagnose and debug issues arising during integrations. You will coordinate with domain experts (e.g. rendering and physics engineers) at Criterion, Frostbite and globally within EA. This work will be rounded out by working with our build and testing teams to ensure consistent updates to our code base.

As a studio within EA, there is also a requirement that you will need to work with engineers at Criterion and Frostbite to share new technologies across EA Studios, including partnering with the global engineering community at EA to help execute best practice for integrations.

What’s in it for you? Glad you asked!
