Role Overview:
The Global Store and Services team are part of a vibrant organization that manage both the transactional store and subscription businesses for PlayStation. GSS brings together staff from around the world, with a passion for engaging PlayStation gamers with relevant and entertaining content and services. This area of Sony Interactive Entertainment has seen significant growth in recent years to become a key revenue contributor and continues to evolve with the industry to create new business opportunities.
This role will sit within the GSS Services team who are accountable for the forecasting, proposition, strategy, and delivery of trading plans to drive growth for both PlayStation Plus and PlayStation Now. The Subscriptions Insights Analyst will operate in a team of 3 analysts, dedicated to PlayStations’ subscription services. PlayStation Plus is subscribed to by the majority of our players and PlayStation Now has seen huge growth since re-launching in October last year.
You will work closely with the rest of the Services Insights team and Commercial Managers to pull the required data, understanding and interpreting it to draw out actionable insights, contextualised against our commercial activity and current events/trends in the gaming industry.
You will also be responsible for building the insights into PowerPoint slides that clearly and concisely convey the state of the subscription bases to the leadership team.
You will be expected to contribute towards our Tableau reporting suite and to manage SQL data assets that feed into these reports.
What you’ll be doing:
- Using data analysis and your gaming industry knowledge to identify business opportunities and risks which will inform our business strategies.
- Interrogating our data to understand and explain deviations from forecasts against our KPIs
- Supporting promotional activity, both to deliver the campaigns and to measure success after completion.
- Aggregating event-level SQL data to the appropriate level for reporting requirements
- Working with automation software (Airflow) to ensure these reports are full automated and updated daily
- Building streamlined processes whereby we can quickly, easily and repeatedly turn data into concise slides for the leadership team
What we are looking for:
- 5+ years’ experience in an SQL analytics role
- Strong SQL skills
- Strong Excel skills
- Experience with visualisation tools, ideally Tableau.
- Passion for the gaming industry
- Good communication and presentation skills
- Experience working with subscriptions data would be ideal but is not necessary
