Incubation Level Designer (Senior to Staff)

Are you on a mission to create games that bond players together into deeply invested communities? Are you passionate about how player abilities and level design work together to create amazing gameplay moments? Do you love quickly prototyping environments to see how player actions work in different spatial contexts?
Bungie is looking for a Level Designer to contribute to an unannounced multiplayer action game currently in development.
Submission Requirement: Please submit a portfolio link along with your application that demonstrates your level design process from concept to prototype to finishing. During the interview, we'll ask you to walk us through your level design process, using your portfolio as reference.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Concept, design, and rapidly prototype new map layout and level design ideas in engine
- Contribute to and uphold the creative vision of the game, ensuring consistency across all aspects of game design
- Modeling environment geometry from simple mass-out to final layout state
- Conduct playtests autonomously to drive feedback and suggestions to iterate on your work
For Staff level candidates, in addition to the above responsibilities, we are targeting:
- Sets the standards, best practices, and quality bar for the level design in the game
- Engages in the broader mentorship to improve the quality of the team around them
REQUIRED SKILLS
- Embraces a "we" culture in addition to being an outstanding collaborator and communicator
- Excellent sense of scale, proportion, and spatial awareness
- Experience building and iterating upon a multiplayer level for a shipped action game
- Excitement for incorporating character movement/traversal into level design
- Basic understanding of light, value, composition, color, staging and detail in environmental design
- Knowledge of Photoshop, Maya, Max and other 2D/3D applications
For Staff level candidates, in addition to the above required skills, we are targeting:
- Ability to self-drive and self-task given broad, high level goals
- Having experience being the primary design owner for a level in a successful competitive multiplayer game
NICE-TO-HAVE SKILLS
- Experience with character-focused 3rd Person action games (action adventure, platformers, isometric, etc)
- Strong understanding of role based team games and how to build levels that highlight that teamplay
- A passion for the competitive gaming landscape, esports, etc
- Experience with UV mapping and painting custom texture sets for levels
Listed below are the two base pay ranges associated with this role at multiple levels. In other locations that Bungie has approved for remote work, this pay range may be adjusted up to +/- 10% and some roles may be classified as non-exempt (hourly).
This range is determined by an array of factors, including training, transferable skills, work experience, business needs, and market demands. Additionally, it is subject to change and may be modified in the future.

Washington State Pay Range I
$131,000 — $156,000 USD
Washington State Pay Range II
$160,000 — $188,000 USD
Bungie employees in the U.S. also receive:
- 20 days of accrued time-off in the form of PTO and sabbatical days, depending on the level of the position
- 10 paid Floating Days annually, prorated in the first year of employment based on start date
- 10 paid Bungie-observed holidays annually
- One hour of Paid Sick Time (PST) for every 30 hours worked
