Illustrator

The Discord family is looking for a skillful Illustrator to create fun and compelling illustrations to show up in-app, on social media, in advertisements, on merchandise, and many other mediums.
You'll develop conceptual sketches to high-quality final work to meet our marketing and communication goals. We have an exciting new brand look-and-feel that you'll work on and adapt. You will work with internal clients to brief, schedule, produce and manage final deliverables for both internal and external use.
As a member of the creative team, you'll help inform how we communicate the Discord brand to the world and support the creative development of all of our marketing needs. We are a friendly, collaborative team who focus on creating high-quality experiences that enhance Discord above everything else.

What you'll be doing
- Work with the Product and Marketing teams to complete compelling visual illustrations, key art, icons, and gif animations
- Work with designers, product/project managers, and other partners for feedback
- Establish and communicate visuals and standards across the company's entire brand
- Meet deadlines, and have the ability to adapt quickly to changing priorities
What you should have
- A portfolio showcasing relevant work
- 5+ years of design/production experience with an ad agency or in-house design team; ideally in tech or gaming industry
- 4+ years experience designing digital media formats using Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop (Figma a plus)
- Bachelor's degree in Fine Arts (preferred)
- Solid vector illustration skills
- Strong fundamental design skills, including knowledge of typography, composition, and color
- Exceptional character design skills
- Experience creating design concepts and evolve them over the course of the project, while still being able to take creative direction from managers and clients
- Up-to-date with current design technologies and trends
- Can provide multiple creative solutions to problems
- Great attention to detail, while having an open mind for creativity
Bonus Points
- Working knowledge in Cinema 4D, JavaScript, HTML, and CSS for browsers and mobile devices preferred, but not required
- Brand guideline creation experience a bonus
- Deep understanding of sarcasm
