Job Description
As the IT Technician at Smoking Gun Inc (SGI), you’re passionate about all things IT, ranging from procurement and development, to deployment and support. You’re well-equipped to support our current development needs as well as excited to work with our CTO to build and implement policies and procedures aimed at keeping SGI secure and fluid.
You’re a technology guru and your experience runs the whole gamut, from helping employees “turn it off and back on again”, to managing our studio’s networked servers as well as all the software and services we run on them.
Our team is growing, and you’ll be integral in helping with all aspects of that growth. You’re excited to face new challenges and come up with solutions to support SGI’s IT needs.
In this role you will:
- Procure, deploy, and maintain hardware and software for workstations, servers and meeting rooms;
- Ensure day-to-day functionality of studio hardware and software;
- Provide day-to-day desktop support for Users both local and remote;
- Install, configure and support software (Perforce, etc...);
- Maintain and develop the studio network infrastructure;
- Ensure security and integrity of resources;
- Ensure disaster recovery and mitigation plans;
- Create and distribute documentation and support to users on how to operate new software and computer equipment;
- Organize and schedule upgrades and maintenance;
- Identify and mitigate potential issues and risks;
- Manage and support on premise and cloud servers;
- Perform troubleshooting to diagnose and resolve problems (repair or replace parts, troubleshoot software, maintaining mission critical servers etc.);
- Maintain server maintenance schedule;
- Maintain and expand hardware as studio needs;
- Catalog and inventory all hardware and software;
- Ensure smooth operation of day-to-day studio technology;
- Work with external IT partners on planning, maintenance, troubleshooting.
Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you must have:
- Proven experience as a senior IT Administrator or IT Technician;
- CIT Diploma or similar experience preferred;
- A knack for being self-directed and proactive;
- Experience implementing and maintaining Active Directory or similar services;
- Outstanding organizational and time-management skills;
- Excellent diagnostic and problem-solving skills;
- Robust communication and interpersonal skills;
- Excellent IT research skills;
- Strong understanding of networking and services;
- In-depth experience with Windows Server and Desktop environments;
- Experience maintaining and deploying a variety of environments and servers;
- Strong knowledge of internet security and data privacy principles;
- Experience working with and maintaining mission critical servers and software.\
It would also be great if you had:
- Experience supporting game development;
- Familiarity with shell scripting for IT automation, e.g. PowerShell, python etc.;
- Experience with Linux, and Mac operation systems;
- Experience with Perforce and SCM services.
Please note: At the moment the majority of our studio is working from home due to the Covid pandemic. This role, however, will eventually be required to be performed at least partially from the studio. The timeline of returning to the studio will depend on a variety of factors, including government regulations, Covid rates, and immunization rates.
