IT Systems Engineer - Identity and Active Directory

What will you be doing?
You will be responsible for working with the engineering team to adopt/enable new functionalities in the tools users by users. You will have to maintain the services that are developed by the engineering team and deployed using NodeJS micro services (REST) and cloud orchestration services. The services and applications need to scale to performantly serve many thousands of users globally.
Our team loves to experiment with leading edge technology, dive deep into code and work as part of a team of programming experts who define and solve big problems and build powerful automation tools. You must ensure stellar product quality, and provide technical guidance to Product & Program Managers as they communicate user needs and product requirements. This role is for an engineer who loves the challenge of building distributed, high availability, and resilient systems. Having excellent design and coding skills in building APIs and having the technical depth in OS (Linux and macOS) and cloud programming models is an added advantage
You will be responsible for analyzing the trends of issues, document RCA and plan for work arounds to achieve minimal impact or bug fixes.
As an engineer you will be also involved in proof-of-concept for new technology, work with leads and architects to define technical specification standards, coding and security best practices.
You will be interacting with product managers, project managers, architects, quality engineers and infrastructure engineers across the US and other geographies.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Work with PMs, Architects and Security engineers to understand service and application needs, including build, deployment and management.
- Effectively communicate and coordinate with teams across various geographies, mainly US.
- Effectively communicate progress and issues with engineering and product/project managers.
- Create and document runbooks and KT articles as it pertains to software architecture, design, troubleshooting, and support
- Ability to accurately estimate development efforts and coordinate with the project management teams to plan, escalate, and mitigate project risk
- Ability to self-prioritize work and simultaneously manage multiple concurrent projects
- Lead and administer Okta Operations at an enterprise level.
- Have experience integrating Active Directory identities and configuring applications for SSO within an industry standard IAM tool such as Okta.
- Support EA’s software developers as they integrate tools and workflows into these systems.
- Understand their workflows, then recommend integration options and best practices.
- Have experience managing infrastructure as code using AWS Cloud Formation and Terraform.
- Demonstrate experience using PowerShell, Python or any other programming languages for administration and automation.
- Possess an understanding of Firewalls, load balancers, VPN, MPLS, the TCP/IP protocol, and other enterprise network technologies.
- Possess advanced knowledge of Microsoft Active Directory technologies in the context of a global, multi-forest 24x7 organization
- Lead technical troubleshooting sessions with the operations team and grow into the role of a subject matter expert.
- Work with our engineering teams to secure infrastructure using industry best practices.
- Create and maintain a documentation knowledge base for reference and training.
- Drive innovations that improve system availability, resilience, and performance.
- Possess a high degree of self-motivation and a desire for continuous improvement
- Perform their duties ethically and with a strong focus on enterprise security.
Required Skills and Experience
- Expertise in Okta Administration.
- Experience working with OpenID Connect, OAuth 2.0, and SAML 2.0
- Experience administrating cloud infrastructure in both AWS and Azure.
- AWS Including VPCs, EC2, ALB, IAM roles, KMS, Certificate manager, Route 53
- Azure including VNets, Azure Virtual Desktop, Hybrid AD Join, Conditional Access.
- Experience in working with AWS Lambda, Serverless, Docker
- Having experience with Active Directory usage.
- Having hands-on experience in coding using any of the programming languages. Ex. Python, Nodejs, Javascript or Java.
- Experience using API calls to interact with applications for administration.
- Experience applying technical security standards and baseline configurations.
- Ability to work independently and efficiently
- Experience overseeing contractors and the delivery of technical requirements
- Excellent ability to learn new skills and adapt to a new environment
Desired skills
- Full Stack development experience using MERN technologies.
- Experience in Okta Access Gateway
- Experience in using Hashicorp products like Vault.
