Job Purpose
The role of IT Project Manager (Business Systems) is a pivotal role in delivering valuable application change. The Project Manager, successful in this role will be experienced in working with solution development teams and managing multiple workstreams across a solution delivery roadmap.
The role is focused on managing the working environment in which the solution is evolving. The Project Manager will coordinate all aspects of the management of the project at a high level.
The role of Project Manager supports the Business Systems team and facilitates team interaction, communication and active collaboration across multiple groups and discipline.
Working alongside these groups the Project Manager will ensure the efficient workflow and smooth delivery of core functionality, and services provided by Business Systems team.
This role is key to driving operational efficiency, and process excellence to facilitate continued growth and achievement to ensure competitive advantage for SEW.
The Business Systems team deliver Business Application Management services (functional and technical) across the SEW group. This includes ongoing system optimisation, product development as well as maintaining and managing existing systems day to day - Business as Usual (BAU).
The Business Systems team are also actively engaged in preliminary programme / project work across SEW teams in preparation for the deployment of the Global Financial Systems.
Key Deliverables
- Engaging with group sponsors and key stakeholders to build a shared understanding of desired outcomes, shape the ‘blueprint’ for process change and establish measurable success criteria (benefits realization).
- Working with the direction-level roles in defining the Business Case and organising Benefits Assessments.
- Working with the Business Analyst ensuring the requirements defined are of good quality and are that they are analysed and managed appropriately.
- Ensuring effective and timely communication, and provision of information to project to all stakeholders including Business Sponsor, Steering Committee and Service Owners as agreed.
- Performing high-level project planning and scheduling.
- Collaborating with the Solution Development Team and other appropriate stakeholders to create and agree the Delivery Plan (the schedule for iterative and incremental work in progress).
- Prioritising work to be done, distributed and tracked for timely delivery working towards project targets.
- Monitoring progress against the baselined Delivery Plan.
- Establishing links between dependant work types and delegate work effectively supporting and managing effective workflow across team tasks and activity.
- Ensuring risk, issues and dependencies are identified, monitored and controlled.
- Collaborating with sponsor, service owners or technical roles as required to resolve these as they arise.
- Prioritising work to be done, distributed and tracked for timely delivery working towards project targets.
- Handling problems escalated from the Solution Development Team providing help and guidance to progress the work to be done.
- Monitoring and ensuring appropriate involvement and communication between required members of the multi-disciplinary Solution Development Team.
- Attending ‘stand-up’ meetings, as appropriate, to keep a current understanding of the team’s progress and issues, and to mitigate and flag any important external issues that that team need to be aware of.

Person Specification:
Knowledge & Experience
Essential
- An understanding of key project management lifecycles, project management principles and methodologies.
- Demonstrates the ability to manage Agile or Hybrid projects / lifecycles project management principles and methodologies.
- A proficiency in software development / app development for business systems.
- Experience working to support the development and deployment of new process, technology and services.
- Experience coordinating a team of software developers, managing production pipelines and workflow supporting successful delivery.
- Experience working directly with technical tool development teams supporting the development of new technology and services (Applications development and management).
- Knowledge of Software Development life cycle and Agile frameworks.
Desirable
- MSP, PMP,
- Prince2 or AHPP Axelos,
- PMI or similar accreditation
- ITIL V4Supplier management
- Contract management

Technical Skills
Essential:
- Proficient integrating and developing Business Systems.
- Experience working to implement and support the continuous development and deployment of new technology and services specifically (ERP / Financial Information Systems).
- Proficient using the Atlassian suite of Tools including Jira and Confluence.
Desirable:
- Ability to demonstrate technical background with involvement in solution design and delivery.
- Ability to demonstrate proficiency of the ITIL framework and ITIL best practice.
Other
- Project management methodologies, techniques / themes incl. estimating and resource planning.
