IT Manager

We have a new role for an IT Manager to provide leadership to our current IT team. This role would suit an experienced IT Manager with a desire to work in a dynamic game studio environment.
This is a hands-on management role providing support for approximately 120 users.
You will be taking management responsibility for the 1st and 2nd line IT support across a wide variety of systems and ensuring correct policies and procedures are in place companywide.
Being pro-active you will be able to balance competing priorities and use your great communication skills to deliver first class IT Management throughout our busy studio environment.
IT Manager Key Tasks/Areas
- Management
- Provide leadership for all activities of the IT Department, including team management.
- Take lead role in setting out technology policies and practices across the company and advising on their effective implementation.
- Collaborate with HR and Departments to constantly improve and co-own a new-hire setup process so we ensure a fast, smooth and cost effective on boarding experience for new starts.
- Service
- Apply best practice Service Management principles to a deliver robust and timely service to a variety of users working across a range of disciplines.
- Providing 1st & 2nd line technical support via telephone, remote access and on-site.
- Listen to and anticipate needs of staff in the studio that relate to technology, hardware, software, etc. and provide timely solutions.
- Pro-actively identify opportunities to improve IT service and systems. Manage the resulting improvement initiatives to successful completion.
- Security / Policies
- Maintain and enforce IT policies across the company; including acceptable use, data privacy, backup and security.
- Manage an audit process to identify and resolve risks across the organisation’s IT functions.
- Documenting, testing and communicating the company DR plan.
- Purchasing and Licensing
- Purchasing and asset management of IT hardware and SW licenses
- Liaising with third party suppliers and technical support to resolve internal IT issues
- Procurement and dealing with vendors, 3 rd parties and contractors
- Build relationships with software and hardware vendors to obtain preferential service and loyalty benefits.
- Operations
- Administration and maintenance of all internal systems.
- Windows desktop & OSX management & administration
- Management and maintenance of networks, including switches, routers, and Wi-Fi devices.
- Server management, including group policies, DHCP, DNS, AD, WSUS.
- Monitoring, fault finding and maintaining network infrastructure
- Administration for Windows Active Directory and Exchange and Outlook in Exchange server environment
Skills required
To succeed in this role, you will have experience of:
- Establishing and maintaining IT policy in line with relevant standards.
- IT Service delivery in line with ITIL.
- Managing audit processes to test and validate IT functions.
- Helpdesk systems
- Windows desktop & OSX management & administration
- Server management, including group policies, DHCP, DNS, AD, WSUS.
- Management of networks, including switches, routers, and Wi-Fi devices
- Email administration / Microsoft 365
- Cloud based systems and architecture
- Collaborative documentation systems such as Confluence
In addition, you will have:
- Excellent written, verbal, presentation and interpersonal communication skills
- An understanding that regular face to face communication with the stakeholders is paramount to success
- Strong leadership and decision-making skills
- A constant and active interest of developments in the IT and Gaming sector
- A service-oriented approach to IT delivery.
- An active interest in Outplay’s development plans and derived from that, a vision how your department can contribute to the success of the company
An understanding of Software / Hardware requirements for all disciplines involved in making games (e.g. Art, Design, Code, QA, Analytics, Marketing, …) would be advantageous but isn’t a strict requirement for the role.
