IT Business Analyst (Business Systems)

The Business Systems team delivers Business Application Management services (functional and technical), across the SEW group. This includes ongoing system optimisation, product development as well as maintaining and managing existing systems day to day Business as Usual (BAU).
The Business Systems team are also actively engaged in preliminary programme / project work across SEW teams in preparation for the deployment of the Global Financial Systems.
The role of Business Analyst commands a level of seniority and demonstrable experience supporting across ERP solutions, software development / app development for business systems.
The role of BA will have experience spearheading and developing the BA discipline across a project portfolio delivering technology or software as a service. The role identifies, defines and documents business processes and systems requirements to be designed and developed as functional ‘product’.
Liaises between Business User, Solutions Development and IT teams facilitating communication and determining objectives that align with the needs of the business.
Key Deliverables
- Assisting the Director of Business Systems in the formulation and cascading of the objectives as agreed with the Business Sponsor.
- Modelling the organisation’s current and future state around the solution and identifying opportunities, risks and impacts across new or existing services.
- Detailing and documenting business process maps for current and future state around the solution for reference.
- Working with the director-level roles, Business Sponsor and the Solution Development Team to formulate and communicate solution options.
- Working with the project-level roles in formulating the Business Case and organising Benefits Assessment (success criteria) supporting development and delivery of solution.
- Obtaining a deep understanding of relevant business area(s) to be able to recommend solutions and build high-quality requirements.
- Translating conceptual user requirements into clear, detailed functional requirements.
- Managing development, distribution and baseline approval of all communication related to business requirements and their interpretation.
- Ensuring the prioritised requirements list is kept up to date, as the detail expands and evolves.
- Taking responsibility for tracking business requirements through to business acceptance (success criteria met).
- Working with the Technical Lead (Solutions Team) to evaluate the technical options, limitations, costs, and risks. Communicating trade-offs and deciding on the best way to turn the high-level business requirements into a technical solution.
- Supporting and facilitating timely communication between business and technical participants in the project.
- Supporting different testing methodologies and determine the most appropriate testing type across the development lifecycle.
- Working with project-level and solutions Team advising on and coordinating each team’s approach to estimating, to reflect technical best practice and current technical understanding.
- Advising on and working with Project Manager and Technical Lead (Solutions team) to prioritise and coordinate each team’s technical activities.
- Helping resolve competing priorities between stakeholder groups by facilitating stakeholder discussions and escalate issues where appropriate.

Knowledge & Experience
Essential
- Experience determining the explicit and implicit needs and requirements of various stakeholders.
- A proficiency in software development / app development for business systems.
- Demonstrated ability to engage both developers and business partners to achieve target outcomes.
- Proven interpersonal skills and an ability to influence senior leaders and peers.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate complex technical information in a condensed manner to various stakeholders verbally and in writing.
- Experience creating documentation such as business case related documentation and business requirements summaries.
- Experience creating documentation such as process maps and workflows.
- Experience with agile development methodologies and agile planning tools such as Jira and Confluence.
- Demonstrates the ability to follow Agile or Hybrid projects / lifecycles project management principles and methodologies.
- Experience working to support the development and deployment of new process, technology and services.
- Experience working directly with technical tool development teams supporting the development of new technology and services (Applications development and management).

- A proficiency in software development / app development and integration of business systems.
- Experience working to implement and support the continuous development and deployment of new technology and services specifically (ERP / Financial Information Systems).
- Knowledge of database types and functions.
- Proficient using the Atlassian suite of Tools including Jira and Confluence.
Desirable:
- Ability to demonstrate technical background with involvement in solution design and delivery.
- Ability to demonstrate proficiency of the ITIL framework and ITIL best practice.
- Experience using HULFT middleware platform for data integration between business applications.
- Experience using PEGA low code application development platform for workflow creation, aggregating data and surfacing data sets.
