Human Resources (HR) Manager

Tangent Animation is looking for an experienced Human Resources Manager to join our team in Winnipeg, Manitoba. As the HR Manager, you will guide and manage the overall provision of the Human Resources services, policies and programs for the entire studio. You will be integral in recruitment and the ongoing development of recruiting plans. The Human Resource Manager must have an understanding of current employment law trends, ESA and experience in compliance.

JOB DUTIES
- Work with management and supervisors to design and implement thoughtful policies and programs
- Ensure the team manages day-to-day administration & operation of the HR Department, including onboarding, offboarding, benefits enrollment, employment changes, exit/terminations and other HR tasks
- Develop and effectively communicate policies and procedures
- Develop and roll out plan for smooth Return to Work in the near future
- Manage the recruitment/selection process and close Senior Management/Supervisor positions
- Guide and monitor performance reviews, conflict resolution, performance improvement and contract management
- Work closely with management and supervisors to design and implement training, leadership skills, and upgrade opportunities
- Oversee and manage a performance appraisal system that drives high performance
- Work on special projects as assigned by your Reporting Manager and needs of the studio
- Development and Advancement of your HR team members
- Partner with Production Management team and Head of Production on resource and other needs
- Work closely with supervisors on department specific needs
- Develop and implement HR strategies and initiatives aligned with the overall business strategy
- Work closely with the Executive team on employment related matters and growth/business re-structuring
- Drive studio wide HR initiatives along with the team (Newsletter, Studio wide memos, Social Aspects, Mental Health and Well Being Initiatives, Artists Management, etc.)
- Administer Safety Committee agendas, meetings, minutes and filing of related paperwork with relevant Provincial body
- Develop and drive initiatives that promote diversity and inclusion
- Partner with Payroll/Department Manager and address any high-level HR related concerns and work on process improvement
- Other duties as assigned or required
Requirements
- Minimum 5 years’ experience of HR Generalist/Manager experience with a wide range of knowledge in all aspects of human resources, demonstrating increasing levels of responsibility
- Strong decision making and communication skills
- Master’s/Bachelor’s degree in human resources management or equivalent training. Knowledge of Canadian HR Legislation
- Knowledge of Canadian Immigration rules and guidelines will be an asset
- Experience working with HR software. Specific experience in implenting new HR System will be considered a bonus
- Experience managing a team of 4 or more. Good leadership skills.
- Excellent analytical, problem solving and decision-making skills to provide employee relations support as needed
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to deal effectively with all levels of employees & management
- Knowledge of the animation and/or entertainment industry will be considered an asset
- Knowledge of MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook required
- Able to work autonomously with limited supervision, have a proactive approach and work well within a team
- Ability to work remotely with employees all around the world
- Change orientated and able to manage conflict resolution
- Travel, as needed
- Able to work in a continuously changing and fast paced environment
