Magic Leap is looking for PhD and Masters students to join our team for a 3 month Summer Program for Underrepresented Students in Engineering. In partnership with STEM departments at Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs), Hispanic Serving Institutions (HSIs), Women In Engineering Institutions, and broader universities we are committed to empowering and elevating diversity of thought, experience, and background in our workforce and in our pipeline of future researchers!

Job Description

You will work for three months fully integrated in Magic Leap’s Human Factors Engineering team and help shape the design of precision-engineered, wearable consumer products.

The Human Factors team works closely with mechanical, electrical, optical, systems engineering, industrial design, and user interactions teams to design industry leading AR solutions. As part of a larger design team, Human Factors represents the human-product interface when driving product design decisions.

In this position, you would be expected to perform as an individual contributor on an interdisciplinary product team through literature reviews, research studies, data collections and product testing. Candidates must be highly creative, innovative and enjoy working in a dynamic and creative environment.

Responsibilities

• Participate in all aspects of product research including literature reviews, protocol development, research & testing, data analysis and presentation of findings as defined by Human Factors and Industrial Design research agenda.
• Participate in all phases of the product development cycle through data collection and product testing with emphasis on Human Factors and Usability Assessment.

Requirements

• Currently pursuing a Masters or Doctorate degree in Human Factors, Biomedical or Industrial Engineering, Biomechanics or a related field with an interest in Human Factors or Ergonomics.
• Familiarity with human subjects research/testing
• Ability to work in a fast paced environment with teams of multiple disciplines, including Industrial Design, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, UX/UX and Product Marketing.
• Knowledge of CAD and other 3D modelling programs a plus
• Experience working with wearable or consumer products a plus
