1 year ago
Who we are
At Fortis Games we aspire to make great games that bring people together while redefining how game companies work. We believe in building a sense of belonging through our games, their communities, and how we operate and treat each other. Through our game communities, we will create powerful connections and lasting memories. We will foster a culture of diversity, equity and belonging where together our diverse skills, experiences and background impact the games we make.
We are an early but mighty organization with a leadership team of game industry veterans. There are many opportunities for you to have a big impact on the products we’ll be making as well as the overall direction of the company. If you’re passionate about tackling difficult problems with direct and thoughtful communication and team first mentality, we may be the right place for you.
About the Role
Reporting to the VP, Games, the Head of Studio Operations will be a key strategic contributor to our Global Studio organization supporting our rapid multinational expansion (which is already underway) and enabling us to build truly game-changing products.
What you'll achieve
You will design, set up, evolve, and scale the Operations function of our Agile Global Studio organization so it can consistently deliver a portfolio of high-quality, long-lasting service games at scale.
In partnership with key stakeholders, you will drive the iteration process for our Development Strategy and Stages to help us develop our unique, repeatable approach to game-making focusing on finding product-market fit, increasing confidence and iteration speed. You will then work closely with the production teams to ensure these systems are applied so we are consistently building things the right way.
You will track and develop the systems to understand the status of game teams, work with them to troubleshoot when issues arise, and to provide visibility on progress to the rest of the org. This includes building a Game Planning & Analysis function that will identify key development metrics, track them to identify benchmarks and issues, and provide appropriate estimates to the rest of the company.
In partnership with key stakeholders, you will drive and evolve our launch readiness process.
Under the leadership of the VP, Games, you will drive the Production Guild within Fortis, with a specific emphasis on fostering interconnectivity, effective leadership communication, best-practice sharing and transparency around internal operations.
Fortis Games is a remote-first company with employees around the globe, and you may be based anywhere with a reliable high-speed communication network, provided you are available for meetings with individual teams between US West Coast and Eastern European time. You will lead an internationally dispersed team, and some occasional travel will be required.
What you’ll need to be successful
- Bachelor's degree;
- Highly experienced (10+ years) in game development leadership positions within companies with a core focus on complex, high-traffic, scalable, and live services, covering a number of large-scale development cycles across multiple platforms;
- Exceptional communication and organizational skills;
- Enthusiasm for directing, mentoring, and otherwise elevating the people around you to do their best work;
- A natural curiosity and eagerness to learn - we believe this is essential to our ability to stay ahead of the market and value this over years of experience;
- We expect our leaders to continue being students of their craft and the game spaces they’re working in. You should be educated on the latest tech, game and work trends and have a strong perspective on how they relate to our current and future projects.
