Head of PMO - SUMO SHEFFIELD

The role @ Sumo
We are opening a brand new role to Sumo Digital based at our Sheffield studio for a Head of PMO. You will be responsible for providing visibility of Project Status across Sumo Digital. You will also own Project Management processes and best practice as well as acting as mentor to Project Managers in Sumo Digital.
Some of your responsibilities will include:
- Create and Develop the Sumo Digital Development Process
- Ensure that the process is being deployed on all projects
- Provide accurate status reports of the projects
- Audit Project Progress using the Development Process and maintain a list of outstanding actions
- Provide advice on Production Methodologies to studios and Project Managers
- Project Kick off – ensuring pitching metrics are owned and adopted by the team with full understanding of contractual obligations
- Measuring – establishing production metrics and setting performance targets
- Change Management – highlighting change and ensuring a gated process for change
- Postmortems – managing project postmortems and making recommendations.
- Recruitment – assist Studios with Project Management hires where needed
To be successful you will:
- Experience in running major technology projects
- Extensive knowledge of a wide range of production methodologies, and when best to deploy them
- Demonstrate success in Project Turnarounds through the implementation of world class production process
- Have provided management reporting and KPI’s for a large-scale project management organisation
- Demonstrate the ability to introduce new working practices into teams successfully without having direct management control over the team
- Be able to work with Development teams to audit progress in such a manner that does not appear intrusive but helpful
- Identify and use of datasets to inform and drive decisions.
- Exhibit a highly effective operational management approach, ensuring activities are tracked, actions taken and followed through to completion.
- Can self-organise and build an agenda without constant supervision
- Have a strong Project Management background including expert knowledge of PM methodologies in a software / technology background and PM tools including their implementation
