Head of Finance

As our Head of Finance, you will play a critical role in managing our most complex technical finance and operational matters, including designing and building an internal finance function. You will be responsible for ensuring the accuracy and completeness of the financial statements in accordance with the appropriate accounting standards. You will help develop excellent accounting and financial reporting processes and policies to help prepare us for future growth. You will assist our product teams in making informed decisions around important matters while maintaining accounting compliance. Your work involves partnering with a diverse global team. This is an essential role to the company and will help develop strategic decisions and improvements with different organizations.

Responsibilities

• Develop our accounting policies and procedures to ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards and to prepare the company for an audit and lead the end-to-end implementation of accounting policies and procedures and best practices
• Analyze accounting and financial reporting considerations such as revenue recognition, business combinations and acquisitions, internal reporting, goodwill/intangible assets, and others
• Monitor, review, research, and interpret US GAAP and IFRS standards and analyze new accounting pronouncements for financial statement and operational impact to Playco
• Review documents, including contracts, to identify accounting issues and propose solutions or alternatives that meet the company’s needs
• Manage the research, documentation, and accounting resolution for new or proposed transactions and document the potential financial and operational impact to affected teams
• Establish a solid financial foundation for the company with the selection and implementation of the appropriate systems
• Lead the company’s annual and periodic financial planning processes, promoting collaboration amongst team members while ensuring appropriate investment leading to the achievement of desired financial results
• Manage company insurances and annual renewals
• Oversee forecasting processes including analysis and reporting to management
• Proactively analyze business risks and opportunities to understand and recommend decisions to drive company-wide growth and profitability, including strategic tax planning and coordinating the preparation of the annual tax return
• Analyze and support decision-making relating to key metrics, including cash management and ROI on performance marketing spend
• Effectively recruit, train, supervise, and evaluate the internal Finance team

Required Skills:

• 12-15+ years of corporate accounting/finance experience in a senior leadership role
• Experience in an entity that has been through rapid and large-scale growth
• Process-oriented approach to building a rapidly scalable company
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree (or international equivalent) in Accounting, Finance or related field
• Experience with global growth companies in technology or entertainment
• Can demonstrate a high degree of technical proficiency with complex finance research and technical accounting activities under both US GAAP and IFRS
• Project management skills with experience working on several large and fast-moving projects
• Experience working across multiple lines of business with a variety of complex products, all in an environment that is always changing
• Experience reviewing complex legal contracts and evaluating business, operational, and accounting effects
