Head of Events, Global Esports

In 2009, Riot released its debut title League of Legends and has since gone on to become the most played PC game in the world and a key driver of the dramatic growth of esports. At the core is the Global Esports team, the group responsible for operating the major League of Legends competitive international tournaments, defining global policies for the sport, driving global narratives, and providing services to our 15 different regional leagues. The Head of Events - Esports leads the group responsible for making Riot’s events some of the most exciting sports and entertainment spectacles in the world. Leaders in this role foster business opportunities to make our events successful, create awesome experiences for live audiences, and global audiences through broadcast.

As the Head of Events within Global Esports, you will oversee for all of the League of Legends global competitive events, including but not limited to the Worlds Championship, the Mid-Season Invitational, and the All-Stars Event. You will use your creative, strategic, technical, and project management skills to conceptualize, design, plan, and execute our events. You will lead a team of executive producers, product managers, broadcast producers, and publishing leads to accomplishing events at a world-class level. Reporting to the Head of Global Esports, you will be a part of the leadership team and help shape the future of the sport globally.

Responsibilities

• Create world-class experiences that reach players around the world, based on developed strategies and product goals.
• Support relationships across Riot to build cross-functional teams that will collaborate in building physical events, marketing campaigns, opening ceremonies, merchandising, and in-game events.
• Guide your teams and provide live events and broadcast creative direction for lighting, scenic, graphics, video content, on-site experience and other aspects of the show.
• Develop and manage relationships with vendors and partners, including production and media agencies, venue operators and governments across the globe.
• Forecast, allocate and actualize events budget, while getting alignment and approval from multiple team members and leaders across Riot.
• Travel internationally for weeks at a time, multiple times a year, to oversee and provide on-site support to teams building our shows.

Required Qualifications

• 10+ years of experience in live events and production.
• 5+ years of experience as a people manager.
• Experience planning events for 10,000+ attendees.
• Experience with events broadcast, in any of its various forms.

Desired Qualifications

• A leader with 15+ years of proven experience in the entertainment and production industries, with world-class events and shows under their belt.
• Excellent project management capabilities.
