Head of Design

Immutable is growing faster than any other business in Australian history and we’re looking for an experienced Head of Design to play a pivotal role in our scale-up journey.

As our products and customer base evolve rapidly, it has never been more important for us to offer a world class experience to those customers. To help us achieve this, we’re hiring a Head of Design to take ownership of the entire Immutable X platform. You’ll be given full reins to build the platform design function from the ground up; everything from setting the vision, hiring a team, defining design standards and determining how design works with other departments.

You don’t need prior experience in our domain, but you do need to be able to develop a core empathy for the problems of our customers and raise the bar in terms of the quality they expect.

You will have the opportunity to:

• Entirely own and design the structure of the design function for the Immutable X platform
• Build and lead a high performing team of designers
• Hold ultimate accountability for the design of our products, and act as the quality bar for our delivery
• Work with other leaders to define the best possible design process for shipping the products Immutable needs
• Create a philosophy for design at Immutable, and ensure that we build capability to service that philosophy

We would love you to have:

• Experience leading design, ideally for a high profile tech start up
• Proven experience managing a large high performing team of designers
• Strong communication and influencing skills - ability to act as a design evangelist and effectively align the wider business with your vision
• Experience as a design generalist who is capable of applying a high and holistic quality bar to all our products
• Clear track record of creating market leading products which were loved by customers

Unique blockchain assets (“NFTs”) have grown in popularity rapidly over the past few months. These unique assets allow people to own anything from in-game items to digital art to music and financial instruments. However, they are highly illiquid: transactions take minutes or hours to confirm, and Etherum can process fewer than 5 NFTs per second for the whole world combined.

To solve this problem for ourselves and for others, we have built Immutable X, a next-generation protocol for trading blockchain assets with instant trade confirmation, massive scalability, and no gas fees without compromising user custody. The goal of Immutable X is to help businesses scale their creation and trading of these unique assets (“NFTs”).
