Skillz is seeking a seasoned communications leader to drive strategy and results across our communications efforts. As the Head of Corporate Communications, you will be an innovative storyteller, adept at exploring both new and established approaches to achieve our goals. You will oversee all internal and external communications, crafting narratives for financial communications, CEO emails, thought leadership, Town Halls, social media, and more. Your role will involve connecting with a diverse range of audiences through clear and relevant messages. The ideal candidate is a self-starter with a proven track record of driving measurable results in a fast-paced environment and thriving amidst ambiguity. You will establish credibility at the executive level and excel in championing consensus for cross-functional efforts. Above all, you will be someone who fosters collaboration and brings creativity to everything you touch.

What You Will Do:

• Develop and Lead Communication Strategy: Create and implement the company’s overall communications strategy, ensuring alignment with leadership, brand mission, and business objectives.
• Oversee Internal Communications: Drive employee engagement, retention, and advocacy through a strategic internal communications function.
• Partner with Senior Leadership: Collaborate with senior team members to craft compelling narratives about Skillz and its products, emphasizing what makes it a top workplace.
• Manage PR Agency: Lead and manage PR agency efforts to position Skillz as an industry leader effectively.
• Leverage Communication Channels: Utilize both earned and owned channels to enhance Skillz’s reputation among customers, partners, employees, investors, media, and influencers.
• Optimize Executive Communications: Refine and advance the strategy and voice for executives, including speaking engagements, media interviews, and internal communications.
• Manage Online Reputation: Oversee the company’s online presence across search engines, social media, and recruiting sites to maintain a positive reputation.

Job Description:

• 8+ years leading and scaling communications teams in a fast-paced, high-growth entertainment or gaming company, or PR agency.
• Extensive experience in both external and internal communications, with a strong emphasis on public relations.
• Proven ability to lead and manage PR agencies and social media efforts effectively.
• Demonstrated portfolio of work, including PR coverage and optionally press releases, investor relations materials, and social media campaigns. Exceptional writing and communication skills are essential.
• Proven ability to run and deliver results on large-scale, complex projects under tight deadlines through rigorous planning and prioritization.
• Startup or turnaround experience: Proven ability to thrive in a startup-like environment with a proactive mindset, strong initiative, and a track record of taking ownership of processes and driving results. Successful entrepreneurial experience on the founding team of a startup or emerging product.
• Healthy tenure: Demonstrated stability and commitment in previous roles with a track record of staying in positions for 2 or more years. Internal promotions within organizations are highly valued, indicating strong career progression and contributions to company success.
• Las Vegas local or willingness to relocate to Las Vegas.
