Who We’re Looking For
With over 40 million registered players, Skillz is looking to diversify its revenue streams through innovative partnerships. We are looking to hire an experienced and highly motivated Business Development professional who knows how to develop new markets and maintain long strategic partnerships. Reporting to the Global Head of Business Development, this individual will be critical in building out this key growth opportunity for the organization.
By leveraging your network and through your ability to advance opportunities along a sales pipeline, you will establish strategic partnerships to acquire new users onto the Skill platform and drive brand advertising revenue. You will work alongside cross-functional teams (Product, Legal, Finance) to identify, execute and manage new partnership opportunities. You are an effective leader that can establish and execute against a clear vision to develop a team into a world class sales organization.
What You Will Do
- Identify and engage with key contacts and prospective partner organizations to define and craft new partnerships and business unlocks
- Lead the development of strategic distribution initiatives that expand the Skillz platform to acquire new players and generate revenue with Mobile, Telecom, and Technology and Platform partners
- Create deal structures that drive material and predictable growth for the company
- Obsess over pipeline hygiene ensuring opportunities are accurate and progress through the pipeline stages in a timely manner
- Provide people management and leadership, building out a team of Business Development professionals
- Create accurate performance forecasts and deliver upon projections
- Report regularly to the team on the status of key opportunities and efforts
Your Skillz
- A distinguished track record of leading a team and working effectively with people across an organization to drive revenue ahead of forecast
- Demonstrated experience building, managing and growing relationships with most senior/C-Suite marketing executives.
- Proven experience managing multiple accounts/partnerships and monitoring customer satisfaction
- A strong understanding of strategic partnership opportunity requirements and proven ability to manage complex negotiations
- Proven ability to prioritize work and manage resources to drive for results in a highly matrixed, dynamic organization
- Great decision making, organizational planning skills, multi-tasking and customer interaction experience
- Engage complex business and technical challenges confidently and make necessary tradeoffs
- The ability to focus on the relevant details and see the big picture in order to make the right decision—the first time
- Excellent oral and written communications skills
Education & Experience
- BS / BA degree, MBA preferred
- 8-12 years of experience in Business Development within relevant industry (mobile, platform, media or gaming)
- Extensive people management experience
- A strong network in among mobile applications, telecom, technology platform, media or gaming verticals
- Sound business judgment, problem solving and analytical problem solving skills
- Exceptional written and verbal skills
- Gaming and eSports industry knowledge a plus
- Digital Advertising knowledge a plus
