What We're Looking For
- Strong Work Ethic & Sense of Responsibility : We are a high-empowerment organization. We’ve got ambitious goals, and trust those around us will succeed in theirs, just as we are succeeding in ours. We want someone who internalizes the purpose of their role, and pursues those outcomes with fervor.
- Detail Orientation : In our line of work, details really…really matter. A wrong decimal point, or a missed deliverable can significantly impact someone’s livelihood. Our quality bar is incredibly high in everything we do. Measure twice (or as many times as you need), then cut once.
- Ability to Prioritize : We’ve got a lot to do, but don’t want to spread ourselves too thin. It’s critical that this person can assess the highest and best use of their time, and they are moving their function forward as they manage what’s needed of them.
- Customer Service Mindset : Sandbox VR leads with excellent customer service in every aspect of what we do. We want to be trusted partners of the business. Delivering an exceptional experience to all of our guests is paramount, and we treat the business just as our stores treat our guests.
- Systems Thinking : When looking at the way things work, we need someone who can identify the best and most efficient way it can function, and build a plan to move us in that direction.
- Adaptability : We are at the ground floor of our People infrastructure build. Some scrappiness and willingness to pivot, required.
- Leadership Experience : Direct leadership (including performance management of others) is preferred, but large-scale project (indirect) leadership is also a big plus.
What You'll Do
- Manage our Core Human Capital Systems With an Eye Towards Optimization : A good people function removes barriers to entry. With such a large retail population, we want their touchpoints with our people systems to be as simple as possible, while still accomplishing everything we need to do to keep people engaged.
- Centralize & Own Our Global Payroll Process : Right now, we have parallel payroll processes being run in Hong Kong and in the US. We’d like this person (and this person’s future team) to own the Payroll process for SVR Global.
- Own the Systems Portion of Our Onboarding, Internal Mobility, & Offboarding : This person will work in partnership with our other people team members to ensure our key talent management processes are accurate, and our data is updated as our people move through the employee lifecycle.
- Develop & Refine our People Data Practices : There’s a strong desire for great data to help our business leaders grow the organization in the most efficient way. We would love to develop a self-service model for our data, but we need to help the business clean up the data we have, and then implement processes to keep it clean before we get them there. May then we can we someday… hopefully… decrease our reliance on spreadsheets
- Growth Into Other Responsibilities as we Build : For the right person, this position will have a lot of opportunities for future skill (and role) growth.
